    An upcoming disaster?

It is no secret to anyone that Rafa has about 18 months left on his contract - he was promised a 12 month extension over a year ago, hwoever, with all that is happaning with the board, an offer has not been forthcoming.

If, as I suspect, Hicks continues to refuse to sell out to a buyer and he is still our owner come summer. Are you perhaps expecting the departure of some of our players? It's something that gives me the willies for sure. Just about all ourt Spanish players signed simply becuase of Rafa nad if no new offer is forthcoming, then what would that do to the team.

The bitters aren;t on the same level, hwoever, their performances haven't been good due to Gollum dragging his heels on signing a new contract.

Any offer at the moment would be a start, but we're not even there yet. Do you think one will be coming along soon?

I can`t see why new owners would want a new manager if the team performs.
The upper management (Parry etc) will have to go, but it wouldn`t be smart to sack a manager that performs. If they sack Rafa they will also probably have to rebuild the squad, and that is bad for business. It will also piss off the fans from the start, hardly a good way to start at the club.
As long as Rafa delivers he will be safe IMO.

I think that a new contract was always dependent on this seasons performance. He seems to be doing alright on that score. I'd guess he will get a new contract in January assuming we remain within 5 points of top.

Also it is interesting that Rafa describes it as two years and journalists all have it as 18 months

What I find interesting is the fact Rafa hasn't finished discussions on his newly signed contract. The longer this goes on the bigger it will become and if it is true that Rafa (or his agent) has heard nothing about it then it's time for H&G to show some form of solidarity and do what is to me a plainly simple decision.

Give him a new contract you ****ing noobs

Contracts in football, as a rule of thumb, tend to expire 30th June - so I'm assuming he has 20 1/2 months left, so both are wrong!!!

No dissy but im getting massively ****ed off with people always having something negative to say, ok it might be ironic coming from me but i'm enjoying my best moment as a Liverpool fan to date - we're winning matches on a regular basic and i'm happy as larry about that.

Hicks wanted to offer Rafa a new contract - check the quotes. However this is a decision that requires agreement from Hicks and Gillett, since an offer was never made to Rafa and now all queries abouts the contract are referred to Rick Parry (Gillett's man in England) it seems clear the problem over the contract isn't Hicks or Rafa but Gillett...

The only other possible explanation I can see is that Hicks and Gillett have agreed to let whoever they sell the club to sort out the Rafa's new contract.

I think the contract has not been offered yet because the Yanks are still considering selling the club and therefore it would make more sense for the new owner to make his own decision. Or maybe the potential no owner has told the Yanks not to give a new contract and let him decide for himself.

Either way it needs to be all sorted out before the end of the season

That sounds way too rational for it to be true!
