I'd prefer Rob Jones at full back. I've never seen a quicker defender. Shame the poor fella was never fit.

You can't have Rob Jones ahead of a legendary player like Phil Neal.

As for Emlyn, he could play anywhere and was used at LB for a good couple of seasons.

He has to be in the side regardless.

Agreed. Although, depending on the hypothetical opposition, I'd be tempted to just give the nod to Nicol ahead of Neal. By a whisker.

It's all about personal choice, obviously, and Nicol was more my generation, but if we're picking an all time 11 in terms of contribution to the club, I think Nealy has to be in there as he one of the most succesful Liverpool players of all time.

I wouldn't disagree, to be honest. They'd probably fill the full-back spots in my team, as Nicol was almost as comfortable on the left.

But I'd be inclined to shoe-horn Lawrenson in there too, probably at the expense of Smith (although I wouldn't be telling him to his face). I'd also be forced to put Keegan in instead of Fowler.

                        Bu that's probably just me...

                          We've got too many legends

Thing with Tommy, he's basically remembered for just being a bit of a nutter, but he was actually a brilliant player and was comfortable in a number of roles.

I watched the 65 cup final on LFCTV recently and some of the surging runs from defence and link up with the attack were Beckenbauer-esque

Aye, he was surprisingly (if you only go by the hard-man reputation) classy on the ball, and preceded Hansen in the 'bringing the ball out from the back' stakes. I just don't think I'd have both him and Emlyn in my side (quite apart from the fact that they'd be trying to kick each other) and Emlyn's energy and enthusiasm just wins out.

Actually, I think I've got 12 in my team now, so I think I may be forced to offer my imaginary resignation.

But when I was a lad I don't think he was considered a legend. I know he got forward well and took pens, but defensively I remember him as being a bit fallible.
