    Torres unites the fans

I saw a scene after the match of a young kid as he walked over to Athleti fans to swap scarves and I was really pleased to see such scenes after the flack that their fans got after their last match.

I just saw this on newsnow and thought it deserved a viewing here

    Fernando Torres Unites
Perhaps it is because both set of fans are more passionate than most. Or, quite simply, because the two have a great affection for Fernando Torres that unites them. Whatever the reason, the game against Atletico Madrid not only passed by without any incident but Liverpool fans were genuinely made to feel welcome.

Inevitably, this won't get anything like the sort of publicity that would be afforded had there been any trouble. It is a sad state of affairs but, rather than dwell on it, I'd rather focus on these nice scenes from after the game:

I haven't a clue what the commentators are saying as I don't speak spanish but I imagine it's all good

Hunter on Talksport said before the match that the Athleti fans were respectful of Liverpool partly because old man Reina had played for them plus all the recent movement of players between the two.

We seem to have a real affinity with fans of Spanish teams since the Rafalution began.

There's a video on Youtube from after the match at Anfield when we played Barca and the two sets of fans are singing each others team names and applauding each other.

I remember hearing the Liverpool fans singing "Viva Espania" during the Athletico game and was really impressed.

Theres a lot of mutual respect, thats for sure.

You only had to look at the number of Spain shirts in Liverpool this summer to see it.

Can't see that video at work but it looks like it might be a different version of the same thing.

The one I saw was taken from the corner of the Main Stand by the Anny Rd end.

I saw that one looking for this, this is from the Anfield Road stand from their perspective, can see scarf swapping and hear chanting for each other.

The Madrid fans were class, when we were kept behind afterwards, a bunch of them stayed in the ground and we were singing our songs and they were applauding us, then they'd sing a song of their's and we applauded them back. This went on for a good 20 minutes and totally negated the point of us being kept behind in the first place

They were top quality though, i swapped scarves with one of them outside the ground and everything was friendly and welcoming.

I remember there being a great affinity with the Betis fans at the CL home game in 2005, they really loved being at Anfield and there was a good bit of singing their name at the end.
