The Biggest game of the season

Well, there's been a lot of doubters around, including me and I've seen a lot of false dawns in the last 'is it really that long now' since we last won he title.
But, and its a big but, now without blowing my old trumpet I have seen the great Liverpool sides since 1973 and some of the not so great liverpool sides.
You all probably wonder ' why the title of the thread', well, we've all seen it all before a big win 'a new dawn'.

Well the biggest game of the season, for me anyway is Portsmouth at home this wednesday, now I know the Chelsea victory was massive win and my hearts still skipping a beat right now, but Portsmouth at home after a win like that is where titles are won.

Oh and this is where we need a full vocal support like european nights, I know its hardly Barcelona et al but hearing the away support on Sunday took me back a few years. It's as if somethings happening, you know when you get that feeling 'like Istanbul all over again' it's on.

So all in all, a big well done on Sunday but as Bob and Shanks would always say the next game is the big one. One game at a time eh lads and lasses.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tannhäuser Gate.
Liverpool Football Club come back from 3 nil down in Istanbul and win.

Yep, we dont need a repeat of stoke where we were all so deflated having just beaten the Mancs. When your at the top every match is the biggest game. Its about handling the pressure and just carry on winning. Rafa has built a team with a very strong mentality i think he will be very confident that they have the maturity and experience to handle the pressure.

Portsmouth's midfield is **** and i predict that Steven Gerrard will step up and blow them away

We've got to keep going. For seemingly the first time we've taken maximum points when our rivals have slipped up and you'd expect both Utd and Chelsea to win their matches comfortably this week.

      Our next 6 games are:

      Pompey
      Portsmouth
      West Brom
      Bolton
      Fulham
      West Ham

18 from 18 is extremely do-able and we've got a couple of cup games mixed in with that. Here's hoping for a fantastic November...

              First Pompey and then Portsmouth?

              Spurs surely, no?

The next game is always our biggest.

Don't worry Matt, Harry Redknapp does that to a lot of football followers. He's the scarlett pimpernel of premiership football. ;-)

I remember under Houllier that November was always an awful month. I once had a £20 bet with a housemate that we would finish above Everton in the league. We were top of the league at one stage in October, but went out of the UEFA cup, the league cup and lost three games in the league in November, while Everton overtook us. I paid the bet in December to break the jinx!

So, I'm very very encouraged by this amazing start, but am taking nothing for granted. As this thread says, one game at a time, starting with Portsmouth. Let's hope nothing happens off the field to **** it up, because the way we are getting results with star players missing is a great sign, and I can't see anything messing it up on the pitch.

                        flmao, so true
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                        Mine angry and defrauded young?

Great post mate and I agree with you. That said there has never been a better time to play Pompey. I think to win the Lg you need you fair share of luck and I tell you what, this season we are having it, subtle as it may seem to the untrained eye. The fact that Manchester United played a Fired up Kegan side, or a Everton side a rock bottom looking for a result to turn things around, or that we are playing a very strong Pompey side who has just lost there instrumental Manager .. a move nearly the entire team would have not seen coming and are probably in shock ... little things like these over the coarse of the season give you the edge if you can take advantage of them

I agree with this, we do seem to have the luck for once. Such as playing ManC away before January (when they will spend millions), playing a injury hit Chelsea, having opponents sent off at vital points in the game.

                            Im not complaining!
