Aussie rules can be entertaining. My mate is a dead ringer for Nick Riewolt, he hates being told it

The scoring system is a bit weird though, can't believe you get a consolation point for missing a kick between the posts...

      I agree.

In my opinion any sport that gives you a point for shanking your kick isn't a real sport. There isn't a huge amount of skill to Aussie Rules but it is enjoyable to watch as it is such a frenetic game. I watched quite a lot of AFL when I lived in Melbourne and rather enjoyed it. The highlight was watching St Kilda in the MCG and the G Train Frazier Gerhig. That man is an animal. I absolutely loved the fact that he was a big lump who did nothing but goal hang all day. He's like an Australian Micky Quinn.

One of my big regrets from my time in Oz is never making it to the MCG for a game.

Gaelic football is waaaaaaay better than Aussie Rules
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
            Mine angry and defrauded young?

It certainly is. As reflected in our thumping five point aggregate victory in the International Rules series.

Put that up your MCG and smoke it!

When my mate told me it was pronounced 'Leesh' I was amazed

It's a county. All counties have their own gaelic team and the All Ireland football tournament is an inter county tournament between all 32 counties.

And it is pronounced Leesh. I never thought it was funny before but I guess it is pretty amusing when you look at it that way.

Well they're the only ones who tend to win it. But we all have a good laugh at Dublin failing miserably in the semi finals every year.

Apart from the net and the ball, what's the difference between Aussie Rules and Gaelic football? They're both basically just fights that use a ball as an alibi.
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I think Aussie rules is professional whereas Gaelic football is amateur but fundamentally they're pretty similar - I think theres quite a few Irish players who go and try their luck in Oz.
