I'd agree with that 100%. Agger is defensively vulnerable and this has unfortunately been exploited far too many times.

If we're up against the scum or chavs then Skittles would get the nod from me but against lesser sides who get 11 players behind the ball then Agger could offer something else.

Agger's certainly not a defensive liability IMO just that Skittles is a rock in defense.

I'd agree with all that. Agger is far better than the majority of defenders in the premiership but IMO Skrtel is far better than agger and is one of the most devastating defenders I have ever seen play. He's quicker, stronger, a better tackler and better in the air than Agger. He is also very good at bringing the ball out of defence which something which Skittles doesn't get credit for.

Agger offers the team so much more aside from being a defender. He should be an automatic choice IMO.

What you mean last year? even though he didn't play for the majority of the season! I think you have a weak memory. He's only played one full season for us! And we didn't have the best defence (well it was the joint second best). You have failed my son!

And i've not said that he's a bad defender at all - he is one of the best in the premiership. But my opinion is that Skrtel is far better than him. Skrtel settled quicker and within 6 months is way ahead of most the defenders who have been around in the premiership for many years!

That's not how I read it.

No problem with you saying you prefer Skittles, I think he is the quickest centre back we have, but he too is prone to his 'one mistake' per game. Whatever they are both class and glad they are ours.

He's one of the quickest players at the club. In terms of defenders, only Degen is quicker than him. In fact Degen is probably the quickest player at the club now (apparently Ngog is supposed to be super quick too). I actually can't wait to see Degen play for us even though every one on this forum has written him off.

It will be interesting to see how Skrtel and Agger Pair up though.
