If he isn't mentally strong enough to fight to find the form we need him in to stay on for 90 minutes then he was a poor signing (or at least an over expensive one). I think he is good enough to come through, only time will tell.
It's understandable that there is a lot of focus on him. Rafa's outlay on him and Dossena was equal to the infamous summer outlay of Ged's when he 'wasted' a great opportunity to make the extra step up. A mediocre final league position, and/or a mediocre season for Keane and Dossena and similar accusation will start to be made, especially as we're not likely to be splashing cash in the same way in the near future.

Thats true but so far the signs are that the team has improved. Obviously there is room for debate as to how much input the new signings have had. I tend to think we would have struggled to get our two biggest wins of the season [Chelsea and United obviously] without a player like Keane (considering the absence of Torres). No one has pointed out an obvious candidate for similar or less cash that I'm convinced would have filled the same role (possible exception for Zaki but he has been for a lesser team and the challenge is different and I'm not sure how he would have worked with Torres).

Obviously the key metric is going to be league performance but I think the lack of patience with players from some quarters when we have actually been getting good results on the whole is a little disappointing.

Todays game was a good example to why he was subbed. Two chances, one off target, one, well just awful.

          He will come good.

The king reckons he could still be carrying a groin problem.

He's got something about him but overall im not convinced. Bit too short and weak for my liking wouldn't write him off yet though.

I still think left back is a problem position for us.

must be embarrassing being subbed for some teenage nobody. the look on keane's face wasn't of someone injured and that miss was awful.

the more i see him the more i think rafa knows he made a mistake and keane just won't be able to make the step up to our level.

Whilst Keane has not really hit it off yet id say there were more pressing players to get shot of, even now when we are doing well i honestly would look to get shot of these players -

                      Dossena, Aurelio, Lucas, Pennant, Yossi.

To be fair I thought there would be more, so im pleasantly surprised, the squad is in better shape than I had thought.

What would we get for those...5 mill for dossena, 4 mill for aurelio, 5 mill for lucas, 5 mill for pennant and 4 for yossi? Ballpark figures but thats 23 mill...from that we would need a left back and a right winger...reckon that should cover it..just.

Dalglish said on sky sports that Keane is carrying a bit of a groin injury and that is why he isn't playing 90 minutes at the moment.

He'll be fine once he's playing back behind Torres in his natural position.

Totally disagree with you yet again. Keane is working hard for the team and creating chances for everybody. He isn't scoring yet but i am completely confident that he soon will be and the best way is to keep giving him games and he will come good.

He is struggling at the moment because he is having to do the wrong role, once Torres is back he will be able to play off him and be natural support striker that he is. Goal scorer who will soon start banging them in. Alongside Torres he will be deadly. Rafa isn't stupid and impatient, he knows that Keane is struggling a little without Torres

I think we need to give Dossena and Lucas another year before we ship them out. Dossena has only just been exposed to the EPL and our unique style of play so he may still come good.

Aurelio, meh, he's good enough, but we need an extra bit of quality there the only question is is there someone better available and affordable.

I'm with you all the way on Pennant and Yossi, they're just taking up space on the bench / squad list now. I'd give El Zhar their minutes this year and see if he's gonna make it, if not ship them all out.

He had to have a pain killing injection before one of the recent games.
