18 competitive games this season so far

And we've only managed 8 clean sheets, 2 of which were against Liege in the CL qualifier.

Pepe Reina's virtually owned the golden gloves for the last few years, so why are we suddenly shipping goals this season so far?

We're usually so solid at the back and if you'd asked me how many clean sheets we'd be expecting from 18 games, i'd have said about two thirds, which would be 12.

Not sure why, but we're looking a bit less solid at the back and it needs to be addressed - especially when you consider that we're struggling to create and convert chances at the moment.

Is he not leading the golden glove race at the moment tho?

He is still leading the way for clean sheets in the prem though isn't he? Or at least he was before the defeat to Spurs.

Personally, i think we're missing JAR, he offered us solidity and assurance at left back.

No complaints with one league defeat since march, it's very good. But as well all know, it wasnt defeats that cost us last year, it was draws.

And with a lack of potency up front at the minute, we could do with tightening up at the back and becoming mean in the defensive stakes again.

Be honest, 8 clean sheets out of 18 isnt quite upto the level we'd normally reach, is it?

Think it's more down to the fact that we are more attacking this season (in order to get rid of the draws that scuppered us last season) so we're leaving ourselves slightly more vulnerable at the back...and so far it's worked. Yes, we haven't kept as many clean sheets, but with only 2 draws and a defeat to our name, we've definitely moved in the right direction.

Sack Carragher. It's all his fault

The injury to Skrtel and Agger coming back from a long term injury could be factors also. It seems that we were more solid at the back, at least away from home, until the Man City game. With Agger and Carra needing to gel again we should expect fewer clean sheets during that time, aside from the fact that maybe we're more adventurous than last seasons.

Our defenders are attacking more. We have won more games but become less solid. Our deep midfield players aren't covering the gaps well enough.

We have changed the way we play. We're passing the ball around and we're trying to create situations where our defenders can go forward as well.

We've won more matches this season than we've ever done in the Premier League and we've become more of an attacking side than the previous seasons.

I think the Chelsea match proved that we're very good closing down the opposition, but when we're chasing a goal it's easier for the opposition to get at us.

We're just trying to get the balance right between defence and attack. Unfortunately it means we're leaking more goals than we should be we'll get it right at both ends i'm sure.

It's because we're a bit more attack minded this season and we're leaving space at the back. Add to the fact that Dossena is poor defensively at the moment as is Arbeloa

                              Is 100% correct
We cant expect more attacking, expansive football and keep ther defensive solidity, the full backs attack more leaving more space to exploit when team counter attack against us.
Pepe winning the golden gloves didn't win us the Prem.
