I dont understand how they havent been challenging since rafa joined, when they were 4 points off winning it last season.

And they've certainly challenged a hell of a lot more than we have during that time.

Bottom line is he has outspent United, Chelsea and Arsenal these past 2 years and outspent United and Arsenal these past 4 years - no excuses anymore is there? He has had time and money... instead he wants more time and more money (for himself).

You can argue with, but you can't argue with the facts. Would rival fans be crying into their beer if Rafa signs a new contract next? Would they ****.

As for praise, I always praise when things are going better, I have been praising him for the whole of this season for a great start - but we have had false dawns like this before - we need to challenge into May before contracts and millions in signing on fees are handed out.

Ok, firstly, he hasn't been crying in public for a new contract, he's been asked repeatedly in press conferences and so he answered them. I don't see a problem.

He may have out spent other clubs (not sure, but I do seem to remember your net spend stuff being blown out of the water in one of your many, many, many threads about this crap), but did we all start at the same standard? I think not. He has had to bridge a massive gap to get us to compete with the other clubs you mentioned, and now we are at a position where we are just as strong, if not stronger than our main rivals. That takes time and money and he has achieved it. Now phase 2 begins. This is where we take the extra step and win the league. Again this takes time and continuity is key to this.

Now, I can't be bothered to go into any further detail about why your post is so poor, but I'm sure there will be a lot of other people who will comment the agenda driven crap you continuosly keep posting.

the point he (or she!) was making was that you said they are virtually always challenging yet in the past 4 years they finished below us, so therefore we were challenging more than them

In the 2 seasons they finished 4th, neither us nor them made any title challenge. In the other 2 seasons, they made a title challenge. 'Virtually all the time' wasnt accurate, so i'll rephrase and say half the time.

He hasn't challenged for the league in 4 years despite spending **** loads - for that reason he should wait before crying about a new contract.

He has 18 months left on his contract in an era when managers have rolling one year contracts.... in my opinion how dare he cry about money given his shambolic league showing these past 4 years?

I am not saying don't give him a contract, I am asking him to stop crying about it until he has challenged for the league - to show some humility and wait to be asked rather than using his agent to leak Juventus, Inter and Madrid rumours each year to threaten our club.

He is a decent man but he isn't without his politics and other odd ways of drawing media witch hunts to this club since he has joined.

Crying? If Rafa making a comment is crying how the **** would you describe your hysterics on various internet forums?

This is pathetic, you're not actually at all arsed about the contract situation its just another chance for you to exaggerate and have a good old whinge hence all this "crying" garbage. Humility? The irony!

Internet forums are different from public press conferences mate. I just think he could wait and I also think his agents constant ****ehouseness needs to be stopped.

Is it not normal for a big club to suggest he challenge for the league before demanding a contract?

he had to spend **** loads just to get close to the standards or others. Its a poor argument to suggest that he should be beter because he has spent money in a given period. The fact is the others had spent way more beforehand, we were not on a level playing field

Ok, we had a ****e team for the first 2 years at least and were waaaaaay of the pace. Just because we are Liverpool, it doesn't mean we have a divine right to challenge for the league every season.

Ok, there is ONE manager on a rolling contract, so let's not make it sound like everybody is one one.

The gap between us and the top of the table has decreased every year. Our squad was way behind the other 3 teams that have finished above us. As I've just said, we are equal to, or better than them now.

The only reason the contract comments have been made is because he has been getting asked about it by journos in press conferences- what else could he do?
He's obviously just let everyone know about the new contract situation to let everybody know what's going on so the focus will be on the team, and not him.

You have no base for spreading these kind of malicious, damning rumours. This kind of absured comment should never get any kind of LFC webspace at all.

                            Come on mods,FFS!

Where has he "demanded" a new contract? Ive seen him say he'd love a new contract, it'd be great if its sorted asap etc but demanded? Not seen that i'd appreciate a link, cheers.

                                lol thats fair enough...but
in the 4 years they have finished 12 poins behing the champions, 24, 21, and 4 so I would say they only had a challenge once so maybe Arsene and Rafa havent been too far apart....except we won a European Cup of course!!!!
