Whatever about the merits of the team as individual players there is no excuse for the lack of effort and commitment they showed in the first half. I think that's what Rafa is really pissed about and rightly so.

I think the hyper criticism of Degen is way over the top too. It is the first game he has played in after being injured in pre-season and just before he went off he was starting to look better.

I turned the TV on mute. They were talking about Liverpool like we put our first team out there.

The commentators where going on and in the lines of: "Wow. This is not the Liverpool team we're used to see". Rightly so ****er because 9 out of the 11 players out there aren't playing in the team you're talking about!

Typical Sky anyway, a bunch of drama queens all of them.

And while I'm at it: I'm not saying Phil Thompson is objective when he's talking about Liverpool, but do they actually pay Gerry Francis for sitting there?

He got no good service, you're right, but he was involved in plenty of 50/50s and received some scraps and never once came out smelling of roses. I don't know if it's a lack of fight, heart and desire or what...but I thought he was **** and it was in keeping with some other similarly heartless displays. I'm thinking Villa away.
