I think the bottom line here is that we are 1/3 of the way through the season, joint top (albeit for GD), improving and beginning to look a bit more fluid than we did early doors and RK has been an integral part of the team.

Sure he's missed a few but didn't Kuyt last season and look at him now. Yes RK may be an experienced EPL player but he's playing in a new team, gelling with new team mates and looking to play alongside one of the best (if not the best) strikers in the world. I'm sure it'd take me a little bit of time to find me feet and 12/13 games in excluding European games is a bit too soon to be labelling him a failure.

For sure we ain't seen the best of RK yet but I'm sure it's only round the corner.

I would add that I think You'll see the best of Keane when he plays alongside Nando on a regular basis or alongside any other 'striker' for that matter much like he did with Kuyt against the scum.

The United game in particular was won on the back of a huge effort up front from Kuyt and Keane that prevented them from building from the back, none of our preexisting squad would have given us that except Torres who was injured.

I also find Operations argumentative tactic of effectively dismissing those who rate Keane as not being 'honest' is quite annoying. Is it not possible that people like me just hold a different opinion?
I mean being honest about how I feel about it. Showing displeasure at a player is almost always a taboo thing to do. No intention of suggesting dishonesty in others and not being intentionally argumentative

And I accept we need someone to lead the line when Torres isn't available. That man was Crouch imo.

          Ahhh - fair enough

I don't think that Crouch was happy as a bit part player and didn't fit the way Rafa wanted to move the team in a front two IMO. I would have loved him to stay and give us that option but I really don't think we could have made it work.

            1. We didn’t have Keane last year and we weren’t top. Has Riera transformed us so mush single handily that we’re now genuine challengers, so much so we don’t even need Nando?

            2. Bosingwa. Eh? We should have bought him instead of Keane? The boy is 25/26 and it’s only this year that he’s replaced the mighty Paulo Ferreira (sp). You think Keane is bad business but £16m for Bosingwa is worth it? Like Ferreira, lets see how he does once Chelsea struggle a bit and he’s required to defend a bit more.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

the problem with maintaining an effective - i.e. scoring - attack is that the players have to play regularly and not be on the bench getting restless. so we need players that can play out wide one game na dup front the next. this crouch couldnt do. he was a one-position pony as a player and given that this position was torres', its clear why we got rid. replacing crouch with 9 mill for keane is a pretty good deal i think.

basically, the adaptability that keane has that crouch never did is as good a reason as any for the type of players we have up front i think. 4 players that can lead the line and all of those with the possible exception of torres (since if he's fit, he'll lead the line) can play either out wide or up front.

If keane is worth 20m and Dossena 8m, Keane is 1.5x the player Dossena is :Crackoff:

                  Your maths is wrong.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

                      No it is not.

                      20m - 8m = 12m.(difference = 1.5 x the value of 8m)

Or Keane is 2.5x the player of Dossena then.

                        That's better.

I much perfer keane being 1.5x better than Dossena as opposed to 2.5x, otherwise it means Dossena is seriously ****.

We paid a lot for Keane but at the moment he's part of a winning team so it looks as though paying a lot for him was worth it.

A better way to look at it is, has the £40million we spent on Torres and Keane made us better? The answer is clearly yes and even if we had to suddenly sell our big players to keep the wolf from the door, would we get more than the £40mil back for the pair of them. I'd have to say yes, easily.

                              That's why I gave you a B+. I understand that but it's incorrect and I'm a stickler for accuracy.
