I worried about Keane as much if not more than Berbatov when they were at Spurs. Although I suspected Berbatov had more to come out in a better team he always seemed less consistent and bothered at Spurs and as such I backed our defense against him. His performances for United have also been a bit up and down though - probably too early to judge him though.Originally posted by Sarb24 View Post
He didn't actually answer the question I asked. It might be fact but not directly relevant to the question asked. I asked if people saw him as a dangerman when we faced Spurs or not.
The others you mention all play for top teams so aren't comparable with Keane at Spurs.
Some might think that being a dangerman was more important than fans worrying about someone being one."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

The Spurs fans I know where more disapointed by losing Keane than Berbatov, at least when Keane isnt playing well the work rate is still there.Originally posted by Sarb24 View PostBerbatov may not have scored as many goals as would be desired, but he's contributing in his play and assists also. Quite frankly he's a much better player than Keane
We'd have been better off buying a player in the Arshavin mould

Maybe so but they also think United over paid for Berbatov and think he is a moody c**t who can unsettle a team. Whenever a player leaves like Keane and Berbatov you can hardly expect the fans to be full of praise.Originally posted by barnes10 View Postspurs fans i know all thought we massively overpaid for keane and said he would frustrate us a lot more than we think

i think he has unsettled the team, they dont seem as fluid as last year and i think that maybe the berbatov effect......ie 10 players who work there ass off and him, maybe thats why Rafa wont pick Babel?Originally posted by Woobus View PostMaybe so but they also think United over paid for Berbatov and think he is a moody c**t who can unsettle a team. and villa, stoke, spurs, fulham and west ham? i'm sure his work rate made all the difference in them games.Originally posted by Woobus View PostCertainly helped against United and Chelsea and winning those games is the main reasons we are top. Hasnt done our league chances much harm.
i think robbie keane was a poor buy to date. does anyone really believe that we bought him for his work rate?
we bought him to score goals and create chances for players around him, to date he's pretty much failed in those departments.
he needs to be dropped or at the very least whilst torres is out played alongside a better frontman than kuyt. babel and keane can't do any worse than what we've seen lately

Ohh I wouldnt argue that he has been a success yet and so far a big disapointment. He would agree himself but I think we have yet to see the best from him and if Torres manages to get fit for long enough they should be able to form a good partnership.Originally posted by rage View Postand villa, stoke, spurs, fulham and west ham? i'm sure his work rate made all the difference in them games.

We didnt buy him for his work rate but its always good if a player is not playing the best they still run and help make space for the rest of the players.

You don't spend 20m on a striker for work rate. You spend 20m on a striker because you want him to score goals, and you want him to step up to the plate and score goals when you're other £20m striker is injured.
Keane hasn't done it. He's scored 2 league goals against West Brom and that's it. His confidence can't be that low with the silly finishes he goes for from 3 yards out.
I think Keane's problem is over-confidence and in particular his reactions when he gets subbed or his stupid attempts at goals from a couple yards out
When you spend £20m on a striker and he's only scored 2 goals in 15 league games, you don't find solace in his work rate I'm afraid

For you and everyone else who complains about this...
How should he react? If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He should smile, take a contented seat on the bench in the knowledge that he's done his best and has another weeks pay under his belt.
This unhappiness at being subbed just isn't on. He should be grateful!
