I was in the "Kop" for the last champions league game but I was in the side section which is the century stand, had a view looking at the Kop and not the pitch.

that's awful. i know exactly where you're on about and its pretend kop as far as i'm concerned. they really shouldn't be allowed to market it as the kop.
i've sat all around the stadium and in all honesty if i'm not in my usual seat in the centre middle left of the kop its just not the same.
only thing i'd say is that midweek league games are a bit flat, not as flat as 12.45 saturday's but you'll see what i mean.
Aye been all round the ground, was slightly annoyed when I though i was in the Kop and went up the stairs away from the Kop, shouldnt be allowed.
Upper Annie is my fave place or the Kop.
I think you get a much better view of the game in terms of who's doing what, offsides etc from the Mainstand/Paddock/Centenary but more of an atmosphere Kop/Anny Rd.
IMO the worst seats in the kop are block 109, you're almost in the centenary stand in alot of those seats.
For singing etc you want to be in top left hand corner (looking at the kop) which I think is block 207, there are usually lots of good singers over on that side and the tend to stand up more, I'm usually sat on the other side of the kop (203) which for "normal" games is a bit quieter.
I suppose that part of the Kop has the X factor maybe Simon should pay a visit
