Who the hell are Durnin and Bob Bolder - when did they ever play for us? I bet they've played a lot more for Liverpool in these "legend" matches than they ever did in the first team.

Bob Boulder was a legend. Faithful understudy for years. Used to get the odd runout in the milk cup injuries permitting. Always a favourite with the Kop.

Agreed, he just oozes intelligence. The sad thing about last night, was that despite their age, you could tell that these players were head and shoulders above what we've got now. Made me realise how far we are from competing.

The only contemporary player that would have stood a chance of getting into the Rush/Barnes/Houghton/Dalglish team would be gerrard. And truth be told I don't think he'd be a guaranteed start.

john durnin played well too. I knew the durnins when I was a kid. He didnt have a chance at liverpool with the strikers at the club, but he made a good career for himself at a lower level banging in tons of goals for the likes of portsmouth etc.

John Durnin used to play for my Dad's footy team. Do you remember him Howard_LFC? He used to live in Wavertree Gardens I think by the mystery.

Durnin scored the last minute winner when we beat the blue****e in the cup final replay game.

Comparing players over the ages is a futile task. The modern game is so much more different. The others undoubtedly would have been great, but for instance, as good as he was in his hey-day, i'm not sure Houghton had the skills to adapt to the pace of today's game.

IMO Gerrard is every bit the player souness was - he wouldn't have been asked to play on the left either.

What was the final score? I saw the first half but started watching Cracker at half time (I recorded it on Sunday night).

7-6 to us mate king kenny scored the winning pen with the last kick of the game
