Still don't get me wrong, it was an encouraging performance for him - hope it gives him the confidence to kick on.
Totally agree. It could be argued that he looked good because he wasnt asked to do the one thing he should be best at, but has been worst at. Defend.

In terms of going forward and putting in good delivery, he did the job well. As he's done most of the time. His ability to get forward and offer useful width and threat into the box, isnt up for debate.

If you were extremely negative you could argue that yes.

Games like that should do wonders for his confidence, and if he keeps playing like that should help us unlock teams when we play at home. He provided much needed width, now all we need is people getting into the box to make use of his crosses.
Still wouldnt feel the best playing him against top teams until he gets used to defending more, hopefully Aurelio will be back for the Arsenal game.

I just think it's a fair reflection, based on his time here so far. He's been poor defensively, on a consistent basis. That's not negative, it's pretty much factual.

Last night, he had very little to do defensively and consequently (or by some major coincidence, if you prefer to see it that way), he looked better. No glaring mistakes, no costly moments and he offered a useful threat going forward, which he's done from day one.

I didnt criticise his contribution in a 'going forward' capacity, did i?

I dont want to go back pasting in old quotes but I argued that I had seen some positives in him, such as his crossing ability etc and you said you couldnt find one positive thing in his play.

I've always said he's useful going forward but his primary objective has to be defensive and in a defensive sense, i've not seen a great deal to be positive about.

I very much doubt i said that i 'couldnt find one positive thing in his play'.

If you were a journalist who quoted me saying that in an article, i'd sue you

Funnily enough, even in your 'glorious' moment, you've provided evidence that you did indeed misquote me

My impressions and judgement of Dossena have actually been, shock horror, with specific regard to his defending - what with him, you know...being a defender.

With regards to the defensive aspect, the vast majority that i've seen from him has indeed not quite reached the level of 'decent'. So i dont actually see anything in that statement to change really. Keep trying though
