The Turkish Prime Minister was around our parts yesterday, visiting the Langham Hotel. Quite a police presence. If I had advance notice of his visit I would have arranged an appropriate welcome for him - like a petrol bomb.

I just felt like I couldn't sing it. If 'you dirty Nigerian *******' was chanted it would be called racist, no question. But then that's because it's highly charged given the history. On the other hand a lot of people would say it's fine to say something similar about someone from Germany because it's done to mock and is without any real racist intent - that I can agree with in a way.
So it's not necessarily that I thought the chant was racist, but I didn't sing it either because somehow it just didn't feel right to me singing 'you dirty German *******'. Wonder if it would still have been sung had Didi been with us? We're never short of people having a go at Mancs taking the piss out of scousers whilst they laud Rooney.
