Another rant - tho more of a piss take :-) Subs

haha wasn't going to start a thread on this but **** it why not, i'm on one today

    - i don't know whether i should take the risk........hahahaha I was close to starting a thread on this, ahhhh **** it....

yes we did have one unused sub, i was in the main stand yesterday not far from the bench hahahaha - 90th minute, rafa started giving instructions toooo

    LUCAS

who was stripping off and getting ready to come on...............WHAT THE **** WAS THE POINT IN THAT

fortunatley the ball didn't go out of play long enough for the subsitution to be made cause i reckon rafa would have got a roasting for it haha

I ain't having a go at lucas here, i'm just baffled as to why rafa wanted to make this change in stoppage time??? - was he playing for the draw and looking to waste some time hahahahahahahahahahah

I wouldn't off minded if he had made the change and even brought lucas(or anyone) on with 10 mins to go etc, to try and have a gamble but what the **** was he thinking, there was 180 seconds left and he is giving full detailed instructions to lucas hahahahaha what was he saying???? answers on a post card please, - ****in hell, it wasn't like we had a corner or a free kick and he quickly thought, "ref sub, agger/lucas/anyone get on there and just take a gamble and get in the mixer"

this was a serious and calculated sub with proper instructions - in fact if rafa hadn't taken so long with giving lucas the ins an outs of his specific role he had to play - lucas would have actually got on for about 125 seconds and won us the game!!!

The thing is I think Rafa thinks about the beautiful game too much, too much time writing stuff down etc etc etc. When basically against teams like West Ham, Fulham and Stoke he needs to just tell the players to go out and win the game....that's it

Hoping that the unease in the crowd would be attributed to Lucas, or drowned out with boos, rather than because of our inability to score against dross at Anfield again?

What....you don't think you can think too much about a game when you don't need to?

Teams that pack the midfield and defence....use the width of the pitch, play with tempo, play two strikers up front, keep the ball moving and make the space

What more would you need to write down or think about?

I'm not sure that doing that is particularly helpful against a packed defense. I think the movement and width things are what we needed (and to make intelligent runs into the box and look to move defenders around that way).

What makes you think we were over thinking rather than exercising the above poorly?

The point is about continuously writing stuff down throughout the game. For me, if you're continually telling the player what to do throughout the game or telling him to move into certain positions etc it can have a negative effect at times. On some occasions fair enough, but against teams that come to defend, what's the point in thinking continusously or telling the team to stay compact

There are times where the team needs to be given the licence to express itself, let one of the centre backs get forward more (I'm sure Carra and Agger know when it's suitable to get forward). I think Agger should have played yesterday because he's better at getting forward.

Against teams that come to defend we just play the same way as we do against a top four team and that's not the way imo to win a game against the lesser teams

And more to the point, if you have to continually do this for a player then surely the players mentality and game intelligence have to be questioned. I can understand the need to adjustments to tactics etc, but surely the better players can read the game and understand what needs doing?!

Yes agreed. I think we're too restrictive on our creative players against the smaller defensive teams

Towards the end I thought this game was calling out for Rafa to put Lucas on for Gerrard (hoping for a repeat of Everton). Too many times the team passed the ball about patiently waiting for space to exploit only for Gerrard to waste possession trying the spectacular.

I’m sure Rafa was thinking about it and if there wasn’t so much unnecessary pressure from the crowd recently he would have.

I could only imagine the reaction if he had of took the gamble
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
