do you know the concept of a rumour?Originally posted by Chris View PostNo one is slagging off people are they? Theres just one comment about Ayre and the person says there "if true". Whoever done it is irrelevant really, Liverpool football club have done it and it ****ing stinks.
of course its despicable if true, but there's no way it is.“At a football club, there’s a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques”. Bill Shankly

The small gain (if any) the club would make would be simply MASSIVELY outweighed the backlash the move would get from the fans, so for one, why would anyone with an ounce of intelligence make such a stupid move? Surely this news has been leaked by someone hoping to tarnish the clubs reputation and nothing else.Originally posted by Chris View PostWhy's that then? By the way Jockies Scar definitely isnt a bull**** merchant.
Who is this Jockies Scar? Do you know him? Does he work for the club? He may not be a bull****ter but that doesn't make his statement true though does it?“At a football club, there’s a holy trinity - the players, the manager and the supporters. wtf have Barca done knobhead.Originally posted by Chris View PostNo, FC Barcelona.

We'll take Parry out of the equation then eh. as he hasn't a lot to do with commercial decisions nowadays..
but Last time I looked Parry was LFC? no.. and god forbid anyone might have a pop at him for some of this..
They (G&H) for the purpose of this argument cannot ™ the Liverbird itself.
They face two gigantic hurdles in doing so.
Firstly this is not their mark (G&H) - it is representative of the city itself.
Secondly, presuming it is (G&H) their mark, they have not properly enforced what they are now claiming as their exclusive mark just as Arsenal failed to do with their cannon.
Either of these would be a complete bar to asserting a ™.

Well yeah thats why I hope its bollocks but it wouldnt be the first stupid move the club has made under these snakes, though it'd be far the most offensive and worst.Originally posted by Rhys View PostThe small gain (if any) the club would make would be simply MASSIVELY outweighed the backlash the move would get from the fans, so for one, why would anyone with an ounce of intelligence make such a stupid move? He's one of SOS, theres no way on earth he'd create a rumour just to tarnish the club, he's a Liverpool supporter and SOS liase with the club over various matters, theres no way anything like that would come from them, it would totally **** them up. Hopefully his statement isnt true but I guess we'll soon find out.

I thought I was having Deja Vu on this. It's a fortnight out of date and the club has dropped all plans to trademark the Liverbird logo.

LIVERPOOL FC agreed to withdraw its application to trademark the Liver Bird after the city council said they would oppose the bid.
Lawyers acting for the council wrote to the Anfield club stating they planned to lodge an objection with the UK Intellectual Property Office before tomorrow’s deadline expired.
Today, Liverpool FC said they would withdraw the trademark application, which they claimed was submitted as part of a crackdown against counterfeit kit.
The club’s head of press Ian Cotton said: “The club made it absolutely clear from the outset we intended only to trademark our own copyrighted version of the Liver Bird in specific and relevant categories and not challenge the use of other variations.
“But we have listened to the views expressed by many people and recognise the concerns raised over such an iconic image, which has been associated with the city of Liverpool throughout its history.
“As such, we have decided to withdraw our application to trademark the Liverpool FC club crest rendition of the Liver Bird.
“The problem of counterfeit Liverpool merchandise remains and we look forward to discussing with the council how we can best work together with their support to tackle this significant issue.”
It is understood the club has submitted a fresh trademark application for the entire club badge to cover uses on clothing.
Council deputy leader Flo Clucas, who was vociferously opposed to the club’s application, said she was “delighted” by the decision.
She said: “The Liver Bird is and will always remain the proud symbol of the whole city.
“We have no objection to the club registering its own badge, and this should be more than enough to prevent its shirts and merchandise from being counterfeited.”
City barrister Francis McEntegart, who specialises in intellectual property rights, said the future of the Liver Bird logo which anyone can use was safe.
He said: “Effectively, the Liver Bird is a logo which anyone can use.”
