So last season we were already nearly 10 points behind the leaders
The season before we were 16 points behind. This season we are the leaders 1 point ahead of Chelsea and 6 clear of Man . So within 2 seasons we have gone from being 16 points behind at this stage to 6 points ahead of our biggest rivals. That my friends is progress. That also bodes very well because we perform much stronger in the 2nd half of the season than any other team mainly due to Rafas rotation policies.
Some additional stats to consider, Man U have been beaten 3 times by west ham over the past 2 season they Won the Lg. They were also beaten by Bolton, Man City home and away, Pompey. The last season Chelsea won the lg they were beaten by Fulham, Boro, Blackburn, they dropped points at Charlton and Birmingham.
What unites all the Lg winners is how they do against the top 4, If we for example were in positive territory against the top 4 we would have won last year. So in summary to be were we are now is a fantastic achievement. To get there whilst to American Morons drag our beloved club through the mud almost daily is amazing. To get there missing our star player and not really hitting anywhere near top form is amazing. The fans need perspective but they also need to realease just how hard this Leage is, Quite simply it is the toughest lg in the world bar none. There no free points, really no easy fixtures. You have to earn every win and we should be over the moon when we pick up the points and get to were we are. Like many sensible posters have said, sure drawing at home to West Ham is not ideal, but it put is top and there always next game to put things right. What was very encouraging was the performance. A markable improvement on the last couple of games. Hopefully we will have Fernando back for the 2nd half of the season and find a way to get the best out of Robbie.
Jesus I have not been this happy coming into Christmas since I thought I was getting a Commodore 64
