    Keane To Be Rested?

From the BBC newspaper gossip column

Rafa Benitez could place £20m striker Robbie Keane on the transfer list in January. Benitez will rest Keane against Blackburn with the former Spurs star struggling to find the net. (Various)

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

I'm surprised he finds his way home at night.

Seriously though, it must be bollox. Not even Rafa would give up so easily on such a huge investment. It's not as though he's played 90 mins week in week out is it?

Think they have added 2+2 and got 5 from these comments from Rafa

“We can talk about players costing £15-20 million at other teams and they are on the bench every week but people are not talking about them,” stated Benitez in The Daily Star.

“For me it is not a question of the price tag of the player, he is just another player.

“He is working hard in training as always. The best way to support him is by talking about how he can improve. We have to analyse everything because we have to think about him and the team.

“There are six months of the season left so I can pick him lots of times but I cannot guarantee a position to anyone.

“We have to win. He is in the same situation as the rest of the players. Can I guarantee the position of Agger, Hyypia, Aurelio, Dossena, Carragher, no?

“The players have to play the best that they can every week and then afterwards you decide.”

Load of bollocks. Not Keane's fault that he has had no service. Especially against West Ham, he was given nothing. Our wingers did nothing for him all game long

He refuses to shoot at goal when he has space outside the box. Shifts responsibility to others and gets time to miss sitters too

Not bollocks. He shouldn't be playing on current form

The problem with Keane is that he's been hiding and choosing the easy route of huffing and puffing instead of trying to get into a scoring position. I have yet to see him actually shoot the ball with power at the goal, which is quite amazing.

He has been missing sitters and also has been making the wrong decisions on a lot of occasions i.e passing out wide when the shot was on etc.

However dropping him to the reserves is pointless. Fair enough if it was someone like Pennant who couldn't give two ****s about the team or the club but Robbie Keane is a class act he will come good.

His body language is so negative at the moment and it's plain to see he has no confidence whatsoever but he will come good.

Maybe the reserves is a bit extreme but a few games watching from the bench, looking at the system and what's expected of him wouldn't go amiss

I wouldn't mind seeing them both play a bit of time up front together in a 442. It's certainly not the worst of our options whilst Nando is out.

I think that dropping him to the bench is the right choice. I see no benefit for him to play in the reserves though.

were you one of the fans boo-ing at the final whistle against west ham by any chance?

                            ****in' ******

Perhaps we could play Babel alright though....

Play Keane in his correct position off the main striker. Leave Kuyt on the right and put Babel up front.
