This was a charity event? If so Rafa should be commended for putting his time out and if there is any truth to this the organisers, Sky, ****s in crowd can all get to ****. I will wait to see more reputable reports of this but if true it is nothing short of a disgrace.

I suspect it isnt though or at least has been sensationalised.

Dubai royals end interest in buying Liverpool - No quotes and not even an unnamed sourse close to Sheikh Al-Maktoum

£20m Keane facing Anfield exit but Liverpool stay top (I bet that last bit hurt them to print) Left on the bench for the first time in how many games, Keane is instantly on the out in January. Hold on, don't they normally slam Rafa for rotating? I supposed 'Keane exit...' sounds more negative than 'Rafa rotates and wins comfortably to stay top'

'Benitez Turns Down New Liverpool Deal' This is actually sourced from Goal.com, but does feature on The Mails website, as a linked item... The opening paragraph reads "Press reports in England suggest that Rafa Benitez has rejected Liverpool's opening offer as negotiations for his new contract begin", but a quick check of Google can't find any reference to it other than the Goal.com, The Daily Mail, and NewsNow referencing both.

Why is it the Daily Mail is trying to outbid the S*n in it's negative stories? We had a discussion of this in the 'Yossi Wants Out' thread in the middle of November. Funny, their reports of Benny wanting out seemed to have died a pitiful death.

The funny thing is the way many of our fans on this forum take everything as gospel????
I suspect that a lot of the stories are designed to get the reaction they do from Liverpool fans. It is a very strong internet community and I would suspect that such articles generate a decent amount of traffic for the sites and have the advantage of all but writing themselves.

I have said as much elsewhere, headlines get hits and it is taking off.

It is spreading to bull**** articles also, you only have to look at the Daily Mail for the past month.

It wasn't me. They're valid questions but that was neither the time nor the place. Quite embarassing to be honest

thing is I dont like to view the press as being anti this or pro that, but there has been a lot of evidence of late (which you have superbly set out) which shows a lot of bile coming from the gospel of middle england. I'm not sure (and tbh dont really care for the paper) as to what we have done to get this press. We are damned with faint praise at best by them.

Thanks for the comment. Being 13,000 miles away from the British tabloids means I can only follow them through sites like NewsNow. I don't know if there is a bias...but I do note that no-one has independently verified this story about the Charity Do,as I asked. However it is now spreading round the world as fact (as I note the South African LFC Fanclub has printed this directly from The Daily Mail site, and got another link on NewsNow,) with lots of Liverpool fans clicking, and making it Gospel.

I don't think it is really bias - I suspect more 'tall poppy' syndrome, plus the usual desire to sensationalise After all, in the circumstances which headline would generate more clicks for your website?

Rafa rotates again - Keane left on bench

                  or

                  20m Keane faces Anfield Axe

What gets my head in is the way we (the fans) jump on the bandwagon. We know what the media are like, we know where the team is in the league, we know we are not playing brilliant football, but why do we give credence to these media beat-ups.

Mind you, having read some of the comments on here from 'fans' who don't like Rafa, I wouldn't be surprised if some fans did slag Rafa off at the charity function.

we should develop more of a siege mentality (more so than we already have) and **** the rest of the country (not literally!!)

liverpool fc, in my opinion, compares with barca and athletic bilbao in that it is almost regarded as a national team by its fans.........if and when our fans bitch and moan it makes us look no more than the likes of newcastle, spurs and chelsea fans.....come on lads we're ****in better than that......

Disgusting, as someone who gets involved in charity work a lot, I can only imagine how Rafa must have felt, taking his valuable time out of his schedule to help a decent cause only to have to put up with that **** ... Sweet Mother of Jesus ... some people have no shame .. Luckly I beleive he knows the majority of Liverpool Fans are the salt of the Earth and believe in the Liverpool way which roasting the Manager at a charity function when you have just gone top of the lg is certainly not.

That is well out of order, not the forum to take up critique of Rafa and his players - it is a carity ffs. And it is even worse, that Rafa has no chance to defend himself and his choices.

And perhaps worst of all, it has taken the focus away from the charities and the good that is supposed to come out it. The focus is now not on the people needing help, but on some ****s that don't know their time nor place.

absolutely moronic behaviour from a bunch of mindless tosspots.

however, i would have liked to have been there.

I've not found it mentioned anywhere else either. Tried looking again this morning - no hint of a second source.
