Switched on yesterday about 2ish for the game and Stan didn't hold back on what he thought about Carra really being pretty average but LFC tinted spectacled fans don't see it because if the Scouser connection . He wrote off the Istanbul win as well , should only be a competition for national champions etc.
I expected this place to go into meltdown afterwards but nothing. Now I can appreciate that most regulars would have been at the game , but I couldn't have been the only one tuning in for the commentary . Perhaps Stan mentioned the unmentionable ?................
Yeah I heard this in the car coming back from the souvie shop after being relieved of £150! Collymore was talking utter ****e and giving it the 'im not bothered what carragher has to say, doesnt bother me' then launched into a tirade against Jay, benitez and Liverpool.
What made it all the more funny were his comments about being 'bona fide' European Champions and the era of the spice boys. Apparently, you're only 'bona fide' European Champions if you went in the cL as your country's national champions. Nothing much wrong with that except collymore says Liverpool weren't bona fide Euro Champs in 2005 but filth were in 1999 apparently!
When it was pointed out filth werent the English champs when they won the cL in 1999, collymore just ignored that then went on to say 'frightened' clubs like Liverpool, Valencia, Ajax and Bayern formed the G14 so they wouldnt miss out on the CL. Just who the other clubs, presumably filth Milan and barca would play in the cL if these other clubs werentpresent isnt explained.
He then went on to rant about the spice boys era claiming 'most' LFC fans know it was a good time. 60 goal a season partnership with Fowler' European semi's and 4th , 5th finishes in the PL were common place and as good as anything during the carragher 'era.' Er, yeah stan, 7 trophies in carraghers era is on par with losing ECWC semi's and defeat in the 96 FA Cup final, isnt it mate?
Im not surprised no LFC fans phoned in. Why argue with a tosspot who think a cup final defeat is on a par with winning 7 trophies?

First of all for the record I can't stand Talksport, but as they had the game on Saturday I had to hold my nose and tune in.
I like to think I am not one of these people who gets annoyed at any former player "slagging" the club, but Collymore comments pre-kick off on Saturday were such a pile of rubbish they were actually funny.
As has been stated above, he questioned whether Carra or Stevie G would get so many games for Liverpool if they weren't Scouse, and then then went on a protracted rant in which he portrayed his time at the club as a great success based on the fact that we finished in what would now be CL qualifying positions in the league when Stan was there.
But they weren't CL positions then were they Stan? And what did we actually win back then compared to the Carra/Stevie G era?
Nobody needs to tell Liverpool fans that finishing 4th or 5th is acceptable for the club, we all know it's not and we all hope for more. But for a guy who was at Anfield for 5 minutes by comparison to Carra to rant on like that is just a joke. Stan was a talent, but his attitude was a disgrace at times and that goes for pretty much every club he has played for. Remember him scoring at Forest and running off celebrating before turning round to see everybody else was back at the centre circle? Carra and Stevie might not be gods, but at least they always give 100%, something which Stan could be accused of not always doing. I think in his book Fowler goes so far as to accuse him of deliberately missing an easy chance in a game as he was in a huff with the club?
Anyhoo, I realise that a lot of what he said was, to a certain extent, just said to get a reaction, and judging by my rant it has worked! A lot of the "controversial" comments made on Talksport et al are designed to get people to ring the phone in show afterwards.
Oh and at the start of the commentary Collymore said Dosenna had been fouled and somebody had to point out he wasn't playing.

stan "the man" again
Stan the man: RAFA KEANE TO BLAME ROB BUT IT'S HIS FAULT Stan Collymore 8/12/2008
Lifelong Liverpool fan Robbie Keane acclaimed his £20million move to Anfield in the summer as a dream, but it is on the verge of turning into a huge nightmare.
I was at Ewood Park to see former Tottenham captain Keane,28, controversially benched against Blackburn after just two Premier League goals this term.
And I hope the forward is only renting accommodation on Merseyside because he really could be off as soon as next month.
Demoting Keane to an unused sub was a sign to me the player is going to be let go soon either on loan or permanently.
Knowing how football politics work, leaving a big-name player out can often be done to alert other managers he is available.
But while Keane is clearly yet to convince many, including boss Rafa Benitez, I do have sympathy with the Republic of Ireland ace.
And I even think Benitez is letting Keane be a scapegoat for his own failings as manager.
In 1995 Liverpool bought me for a British transfer record of £8.5m from Nottingham Forest and then deployed me in a position I hadn't played before.
Roy Evans unfortunately used me as a support striker rather than a point man which was my forte.
I don't think Benitez thought through Keane's partnership with Fernando Torres in attack which is so different to the forward's previous rapport with Dimitar Berbatov at White Hart Lane.
And by the looks of things the duo cannot have worked together enough on the training ground. I am told Benitez only wanted Keane if they had Aston Villa's Gareth Barry to provide the ammunition from midfield.
But that move collapsed and now I think Benitez is using Keane's lack of goals to mask his decision to bring in a part of a jigsaw that maybe Liverpool didn't need.
Keane, for his age, was probably worth £12-15m so Liverpool paid over the odds and clearly don't know where to play him.
The blame has to lie with Benitez but with Liverpool top of the League, he will shrug off any flak.
And as a former Liverpool player I am hoping they win the title.
But at Ewood Park it was hard to determine the team struggling for survival such was the paucity of Liverpool's play.
And I fear for their hopes while they keep relying on late goals.

The man's a buffoon. Regardless of his previous and the lack of respect he showed LFC, Roy Evans etc etc, he can hardly string two sentences together and even when he does they don't make sense."My commitment to Liverpool is 100 per cent. I would die for that Liverpool shirt. I think the club loves me and I feel the same, no matter what the situation." - Pepe Reina, Nov '09.
