Rafa said it himself the other day. Finishing first or second in this group does not make a huge difference.
Or finishing first and potentially avoiding some of the best teams in Europe, Barcelona finished first in their group Add to that the fact we play the second leg at home

If Rafa said it though it's okay.

We were likely to have to face a top class team whether we finished first or second. Hence the list of clubs i gave, which you've conveniently ignored. Barca arn't the only good team in the comp

The only major benefit really was having the home leg second, I agree.

On current form Barcelona would give us a good hammering. They're by far the best team in Europe. Yes we've beaten them in previous seasons sure, but they're on a different level at the moment

Not worried about the other teams

What sort of attitude is that

We wouldn't be playing them in their current form anyway

Id be just as worried by Inter. Mourinho knows our style. They have a cracking team, and are very solid at the back.

Barca can be beaten, and don't like pressure being put on them. Like we did last time.

It's a realistic attitude. That's what it is

It's not realistic though is it - and what do you class as a "goog hammering"?

Put it like this Sarb, I'm sure if there would be one team that Barcelona would be desperate to avoid in Europe Liverpool's name would be at the top.

I think Sarb over plays his case but Barcelona are the only team we might want to avoid. The other teams are in general much of a muchness.

I think people have a tendency to over state the quality of Spanish teams in recent years they do not have a great record against PL teams. Barcelona beat Arsenal but only when they were down to 10 men. I think that the style that they play would be hard to emulate against English teams too - however they have such good individual talent that they are by far and away the most likely team to upset the PL hegemony.

I would argue that the gulf in class when we beat them last time was greater......

Barcelona: Valdes, Belletti, Marquez, Puyol, Zambrotta, Xavi (Giuly 65), Motta (Iniesta 54), Deco, Messi, Saviola (Gudjohnsen 82), Ronaldinho.
Subs Not Used: Jorquera, Van Bronckhorst, Thuram, Oleguer.

                  Booked: Belletti, Zambrotta.

                  Goals: Deco 14.

Liverpool: Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Agger, Riise, Finnan, Sissoko (Zenden 84), Alonso, Gerrard, Bellamy (Pennant 80),Kuyt (Crouch 90).

they can have the best team in the world, but they dont have the best mangertactically do they?

Guardiola seems to be doing well so far - although he hasn't been tested in the CL really.

i think liverpool chelsea or united would and will beat barca at some stage. barca are flying in a league not as good as the premier.

as for the young lads last night. well done hope the taste they got breeds the hunger to push on now and really fight to get involved.

loved derby shouting at babel to pick up his man within 5 mins of coming on

OK, enough is enough. This thread has had to be butchered by various mods due to you 2 bickering constantly, and its not the first one either. This has to stop before every bloody thread turns into your private slanging match. We're getting a flood of complaints about it from all sorts of people, and there isn't an active mod on the site who isn't sick to the back teeth of it. That includes me. I like both of you as posters on here, you both have the potential to add a lot to discussions at times, but when you're replying to each other that all goes out the window. Every now and then one or the other puts in a bit of effort not to bite, I know that, and I'm not going to get into who is right or wrong either here, or generally, but for the sake of everyone else, and this site as a whole, you BOTH need to find a way past this before we end up finding one for you.

That pretty much means someone needs to be the bigger man for ****s sake and please instigate a resolution, preferably via pm (copy me in if you want), even if that's just a mutual use of the ignore function (though an amicable resolution would be better)..... or else I swear will get Paul to fix the sinbin so you can talk to each other in there, and then I won't let either of you out until I say its over!

No bleating or arguing with me either, lets play like adults and have some manning up.

I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                            Mine angry and defrauded young?

I was just joking around there That wasn't bickering like we used to. I was just trying to lighten the mood a bit. I suppose with our past, it may have looked like bickering.

Seriously though, I've had enough of making valid rebuttals to his "opinions", yet to be deemed causing unrest, just because i don't agree with a word he says. I seem to be getting the blame for yesterdays unrest...which if you read the posts was actually with Craig not Sarb. Neil was the one throwing handbags at Sarb.

I will not be posting in the Liverpool section anymore. I'll stick to ST
