I think if the general feeling amongs fans is one whereby the attitude is "Dont worry if you dont win it lads, 3rd is good, just do your best, it's the taking part that counts" kind of thing, it transmits itself, subconsciously perhaps, to the players that as long as we do reasonably well, it doesnt matter that we dont win the title or challenge for it.
It's about what's deemed acceptable. Most Man Utd fans i know think it's abject failure if they finish even 2nd in the league.
We'd be delighted to finish 2nd. That's the difference and i think the mentality of the club, with regards to winning, is partly influenced by the attitude of the fans.
