Personally I think Red G, if you gave Rafa until 2013 he wouldn't win us the Premiership. I said last night that I'm not convinced he has the right mentality or his management style fits in with what's required to win the Premiership

5 seasons is adequate enough time for a manager of the top 4 club with the money we have spent to have won the Premiership. I'm not advocating sacking him now as I'd like to be proved wrong

Like I said, I just don't think Rafa will ever win the Premiership, just my opinion. And would it necesarrily take Hiddink or Mourinho 5 seasons to win us the Prem? I don't think it would

With the advancement that we've had under Rafa then possibly no but IMO it will take Rafa less time than any other available manager.

Would they have won it by now if they'd taken over Houllier's squad in 2005 and spent what Rafa has? No chance at all I'd say and I think CL wins and finals would still be a pipedream.

That Klinnsman fella at Bayern seems to have found his feet after a shaky start...wonder ho he'd fair in the premiership?

That's open to debate mate. I think Mourinho would have. I think he grasped it better what was required to the Prem, as opposed to what Rafa has

As you say it's very much down to opinion.

Personally I don't think Mourinho would have won the Prem at Chelsea if he hadn't had all that cash to buy the below players when he first arrived even though Ranieri's squad was an awful lot better than Houllier's.

            Michael Essien Lyon £24.4m
            Shaun Wright-Phillips Manchester City £21m
            Lassana Diarra Le Havre £1m
            Scott Sinclair Bristol Rovers £160,000
Asier Del Horno Athletic Bilbao £8m
            Jiri Jarosik CSKA Moscow £4.83m
            Ricardo Carvalho Porto £19.85m
            Didier Drogba Marseille £24m
            Tiago Benfica £8m
            Mateja Kezman PSV Eindhoven £5m
            Paulo Ferreira Porto £13.2m
            Arjen Robben PSV Eindhoven £12m

When you contrast that to Josemi, Alonso, Garcia and Nunez with Owen leaving and the existing squad quality at both clubs I really don't think it's a fair comparison.

It wasnt a bad post, but it was very cliched and nothing that nobody else could've come up with

i think another way of flipping the coin would be if five years ago you were asked is five years enough for rafa to win the league??
"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

                    are you DJS in disguise?
                    rijkaard instead of rafa ffs!

you and that other BAH HUMBUG rage are so anti rafa its unbelievable.
the arse and manure had squads light years ahead of ours when rafa took over so having a comparable budget (which tbf he hasnt but im not opening up that pandoras box) he has got us within spitting distance of a decent league campaign, as well as topping our group in europe, again, and your still rafa out!!!!

dont give us all this 'oh, i hope im proved wrong' bollocks, instead grow a pair and say you dont like rafa's tactics and rotation/transfer policy and that inspit of our success you wld like to replace him with rijkaard, an inept manager who has zero prem experience and woulod, at best, put us back 5 years.
it makes harsh reading mate but thats pretty much your take in a nutshell. time for a re-think?

football is a game of opinions....just yours is wrong

you might be proved right about rafa not winning it within 5 years just dont think there is a manager out there that i would prefer to see managing us at the moment , I think the likes of rikjaard would make us play better football jsut dont believe he would be tactical enough to win the league and dont believe we have a team capable of throwing of the shackles and attacking every match a la arsenal and think we would end up with there same erratic form

kewell goes off, most of us wandered what on earth he was doing on the pitch.

smicer has the game of his life

the penalty gets saved but alonso follows it up, anywhere else and it'd be cleared

dudek, how he saved the second shevsenko shot in extra time i'll never know

it was our destiny. even with rafa being comprehensively tactically outsmarted we won that night. good thing for him to because without istanbul rafa would have been sacked last year. the fans would not have backed him if not for the 'miracle at istanbul'

**** - I wonder how the **** we managed to get to Istanbul? That must have been sheer luck too!
                          Really?

didn't say luck - said destiny somewhere oh and of course miracle

i started to believe right from the olympiacus comeback. really felt we were invincible that year after that.
