kewell goes off, most of us wandered what on earth he was doing on the pitch.

smicer has the game of his life

the penalty gets saved but alonso follows it up, anywhere else and it'd be cleared

dudek, how he saved the second shevsenko shot in extra time i'll never know

it was our destiny. even with rafa being comprehensively tactically outsmarted we won that night. good thing for him to because without istanbul rafa would have been sacked last year. the fans would not have backed him if not for the 'miracle at istanbul'
Destiny is bollocks. Stuff happens, they lost concentration and ****ed it up and we took advantage.

    Destiny doesn't exist.

Well, I'm sure you genuinely believe it but there's absolutely no point my arguing with your faith in higher powers.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I don't disagree with that at all. That does not change history and what Ferguson won in those 4 years. All it does in reality is show that in those days there was more patience in the game.

It's that sort of empty theorising that gets us precisely nowhere. I mean, rage even appealed to 'Destiny' rather than giving Rafa any credit.

You think the events on a soap opera affect football results

yea i was there, remember leverkusen clapping us off the pitch.

rafa's a good european coach no denying it - but a premiership winner, still up in the air imo.

agree totally - that will be open until (if) he wins it

i'm not degrading winning the european cup but that was nearly 5 yrs ago in his 1st season.

oh i didn't forget the fa cup win, but souness won us one of them, doesn't mark a good manager.

we're top of the league, and as the thread starter insinuated this has as much to do with the failings of the other 3 teams at least as much as what we've done well.

my point is that with the exception of scolari who's hardly been here a season and is already competing at the top of the league the other two managers in wenger and fergie have proven themselves in the premiership and i doubt very very much whether they'll be sacked anytime soon.

Then why include it when highlighting Wenger and Ferguson's achievements?

Thats because they've had so much more time to prove themselves in the premiership. I'll say it again, they only got one league title between them in their opening 5 years.

if you beleive everything is down to destiny, you might aswell stop at home, and not goto games.

I think there were also favourable omens in 2007 yet somehow that Destiny did not intervene to save us.

because they've both also won the premiership. think of the fa cup as cake. we still need the bread and butter

wenger won it in his 1st season no? and as i said i don't think in the modern era even ferguson would be given what 7 seasons or so?

why? it must be obvious by now that like those that post in the predictions thread i go to every game expecting to win 4 nil.
