Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

That is wholly a matter for opinion. Maybe if Babel had actually not been **** pretty much every time we had played him recently then he'd get more time. Keane seems to be under a lot of pressure too and is not playing to his capability either. Was fair imo to try something else.Originally posted by rage View Postcome on neil all said and done i'd rather not hide our inadequacies through the failings of the other coaches. yesterday was inexcusable regardless of what wenger, scolari and ferguson did.

Rafa doesn't just have the Premier League years on his CV - there are the La Liga years too, where he won the title TWICE with Valencia - the equivalent of Aston Villa winning in the EPL. He is a highly respected coach. Alan Green said on Tuesday that if he wants the Real Madrid job it's his. He is a top notch coach who is regarded extremely highly by most reasonable, objective observers. Is all.

I agree it was poor although I wouldn't say inexcusable since it has to be said no one's decisions come right every time, as the other coaches' failings this weekend prove.Originally posted by rage View Postcome on neil all said and done i'd rather not hide our inadequacies through the failings of the other coaches. yesterday was inexcusable regardless of what wenger, scolari and ferguson did.

We got away with it. How many times have we decried our failure to make up points on the teams ahead of us when they've had bad results? I know it doesn't really mean anything until May but as long as we're ahead they have to make up the deficit and this weekend they didn't.
Good night.

I've not seen anyone saying the other teams dont drop points to those teams, so let's stick to reality.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostWhat like the amount of whinging, knee jerk and whining. Saying "wahhh the other teams don't drop points to these teams"
Well they ****ing clearly do and have done so more than we have.
We had a perfectly good goal disallowed v Stoke and completely dominated the game.
We fought back well against a Hull team who are actually quite decent and have the best away record in the league.
We dominated against West Ham and failed to score.
We dominated against Fulham and failed to score.
Hull have the best away record in the league do they?
News to me.
If someone had told you we'd draw those home games at the start of the season, you wouldnt have taken that.
Failed to score = not winning the league.
How many more woeful teams have to take a point from Anfield before it stops being good enough?

Really, have you never looked on the match forums when we don't win?Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI've not seen anyone saying the other teams dont drop points to those teams, so let's stick to reality.

You may notice I acknowledge that error.
No, but if you where offered the second best home record and away record in the league and to be top in mid December would you take that?
No failed to score = not winning the game. It is not the same thing.
Did I say it was good enough. However it doesn't stop their being knee-jerk unthinking stupidity.
When did being top of the league stop becoming good enough?Last edited by Mattshark; 14-12-08, 10:58 PM.

I still dont see the ridiculously hyper critical-ness in saying that 4 draws of 9 home game (against such teams) isnt good enough.Originally posted by Mattshark View PostReally, have you never looked on the match forums when we don't win?

As i said before, we've played 9 home games in the league, only once against quality opposition, and we've only managed to win 5.
Being top of the league is great, but winning just over half our home league games wont win us the league.
If those kind of draws are acceptable, how long dya think we'll stay top for, playing this way?

Which is better than every other team in league bar Utd, who have only won 1/3 of their away games.Originally posted by Craig_H View PostI still dont see the ridiculously hyper critical-ness in saying that 4 draws of 9 home game (against such teams) isnt good enough.

But every other team in the league hasnt played ****ing Hull, Stoke, Fulham & West Ham at home.
Chelsea's home form hasnt been good - but they've played Arsenal, United, us, Villa and Spurs.
United's away form hasnt been good - but they've played Arsenal, us, Chelsea, Spurs, Villa, City, Portsmouth & Everton.
Our home form hasnt been good - we've played Boro, Wigan, Stoke, West Ham, Hull, Man Utd, Pompey, Fulham and West Brom.
Can you not see the difference?
We've had ONE properly hard game at home and we've only managed to win 5.
Chelsea have had ALL of the rest of the country's best sides at home.
United have had arguably ALL of the rest of the country's best 8 sides away.

Chelsea drew with Spurs under Ramos too, so that is a different scenario and more importantly. We beat both of them.
And Utd did draw at home to Newcastle and Chelsea just drew with West Ham.
Utd drew with Everton - Who we beat with ease
Utd drew with Chelsea - Who we beat.
Utd where close with Hull at home.
Your being hyper critical.Last edited by Mattshark; 14-12-08, 11:12 PM.

We've played ONE top side at Anfield.
Chelsea have played THREE top sides at Stamford Bridge as well as the very good Villa and Spurs, who are clearly better than their current position.
United have played THREE top sides away as well as Villa, Spurs, Everton, City and Portsmouth, all sides who are tough to play at their own grounds.
So their respectively poor home/away records are directly linked with the amount of good opposition they've faced. Our poor home record isnt.

I think there were also favourable omens in 2007 yet somehow that Destiny did not intervene to save us.
