Good defensively, very good going forward and doesn't shy from the game. Has what it takes.
i think he had a decent game yesterday but he isnt better than aurelio yet.

but he's definitely better than dossena so he does deserve a chance.

Looks a couple of kilos overweight but has decent strength and surprisingly good pace.

Lets hope he can build on a very promising game for us.

Milan linked with Dossena today in the Italian press. Here is our chance to generate much needed cash by selling him if rumours are to be believed.

The only negative about Insua was that he gave the ball away cheaply a few times, other than that he looked quite good.

Kuyt gave it away a bit too often aswell...when our passing is sweet and quick we look capable of tearing teams apart, but too often we start over hitting or we lack acccuracy.

Aye, looking like he might live up to the promise he showed last year. Very good game- especially given that it was such a biggun.
            3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I think we did need a new left back this summer. Aurelio is so injury prone that Rafa has to be prepared to possibly play Insua full-time if he didn't bring somebody in. Dossena has not worked out though and I'd rather we cut our losses than let it drag out.

Really impressed. Didn't look fazed by the occasion and put in a really good, commited performance.

I think that we can all agree on this point. Unfortunateley it looks as though Dossena is going to be an expensive mistake, so let's hope we can get a good chunk of that fee back for him.

It looks as though Insua is going to be able to step up to the plate and will be a good back up player to Aurelio when he's not fit. And with other players in the squad who can "do a job" we should be ok in that position

I think Insua should be given the left back slot for 10 games now.

He's never let us down and yesterday and against Blackburn he looks like he's improved even further.

He's been the one player we all thought had a big chance of making it now lets give the kid every chance to become our left back for years to come.

Is it a negative when taken in the context of his experience? Even the likes of SG and Xabi give the ball away every so often. Insua is still very young and learning the pace of the game at this level. He's clearly good enough to be a first team squadie and has the opportunity to make the LB slot his own now. Sure, there are areas he needs to improve upon and a good run in the side will help him do so. I'd only class his deficiencies as negatives when he's considered the finished article.

I'd look for Darby to make the jump next should Arbeloa hit a bad patch or get injured. Nemeth should be brought up and El Zhar's been lively and should see a few more games in the second half of the season.

He was brilliant. Hopefully he can continue to show that kind of form.

Next season is his breakout year. With Aurelio ****ed until December apparently and the Doss staying, he won't have a better chance at cementing his place as first choice.

Bit scary though, instead of having Arbeloa and Aurelio we'll be stuck with Degen and Dossena as back up full backs.

We need this guy and Johnson to have very good seasons.

In terms of Dossena and Degen as backups I think Dossena might come good. If we keep Mascher and play Dossena and Johnson as attacking fullbacks against weaker teams I think we might get a lot of joy. In the case of Degen who knows if he has anything to offer. Derby is another one who may get a chance to shine. I still hope we keep Arbeloa.

Insua I think is fine, he has developed well out of the spotlight and now needs to have some responsibility. My only worry is he is a bit of a midget which puts added strain on others in our zonal marking system in my view.
