    Kuyt's form

Is he back to last year's form?

It's been 5 Premier Lg matches without a goal or an assist.

Apart from this, Rafa's wonder boy seems to lose too much the ball and all he does is simply:
    a. pass the ball backwards.
    b. pass the ball to the player next to him
    c. shoots
    d. gives the ball away when trying through pass.

Did somone notice him yesterday how many times he lost the ball???
And why the hell he is never substituted???

Kuyt plays for Liverpoll yes but I cannot see an attacking minded manager choosing him in his side.

And when Keane has a bad game we all criticize him and he is substituted after 60 mins.

love how you fail to mention his cross for Gerrard that nearly led to us taking the lead, also his shot that was goal bound only for Almunia to save it
      what about that?

I think that a player like kuyt will keep splitting the waters as long as he plays the position he does.

He is very untraditional for a winger, in that he lacks more or less the qualities normally sought out in a winger, and having many of the qualities you would normally see in a central midfielder / holding midfielder. This creates some ambiguity when coming to Kuyt.

I find myself very split on him, on one hand he works almost like no other in the team, he is ever present for a pass option and at times create / score goals. On the other hand he IMO offers to little creatively, pace wise and when crossing to merit a place on the right wing.

If Kuyt played (and I have expressed this before) in Mascers position or such I think he would be one of our most supported players, a hard working, fair tackling and partcipating holding midfielder is what every club wants. He posses all the qualities to play that position, or even as a hard working striker that leaves room for a torres or such.

On the right wing position to many things go stale when Kuyt recieves the ball. The opposition just need to place in 1 defender and kuyt passes it back, because he can't take him one on one. When you see Riera getting the ball, you immediatly see the opp. midfielder / winger closing him down with the defender because he is to dangerous to have in a one on one. And that creates a lot of space for the back to get forward, and partly reason for Insuas great performance against arsenal this weekend.

It is a bit like seeing Beckham in his RW days, but without that extra lethal cross. Beckham today is quite respectet as a CM instead, and that is what I see in Kuyt as well.

I am still split on kuyt, he puts in a lot of MOM performances, but also hampers us on the wing. I love his approach to the game and his attitude both on and off the pitch and wan't him at our club, but I find it very hard to defend not getting a better winger for that position.

The "cross" was ****. That was a ****ing tap in opportunity if i've ever seen one...but Dirk bloody blasts the cross in. Stevie ****ing did well to make contact Just needed to play the ball into the space for Gerrard to run onto and smash home.

I was fuming after that **** up.

Bit harsh IMO, he had to get the ball through/past a defender, so he couldn't just place the ball nicely, there had to be some pace on the ball.
            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

To call the cross **** is OTT and just shows how some fans already have their minds made up about certain players. The cross was slightly overhit.

It also did get through the defender which was the difficult bit of the exercise IMO. Kuyt was one of our better players - certainly when we applied pressure which was not enough IMO he was always prominent.

I thought overall he was very good yesterday. He did however have a few, how shall I put this, "Kuyt" moments where he played the ball straight to the opponents under no real pressure (one just before Arsenal scored which ruined our momentum...if you want to be extra harsh).

Everyone had a piss poor game in the 1st 20 mins or so. Most of our midfield went missing.

Think he really suffers from having no movement up top (ie no Torres)- as such he is easier closed down. Think Stevie suffers from the same too- altho obviously to a much lesser extent.

Agree with a lot of what Darkon says- Babel should really be a different alternative to Kuyt for when a different sort of player is required, but he has gone backwards.

As for yesterday, he had a decent-ish game. The cross was poor, but he made the opening really. He faded when we were against 10, but who didnt? Thought he played better than SG to be fair.
                        3rd place. Worst champions ever.

What about that? It was overhit and gave Gerrard nearly zero chance of scoring.

You think so? Well I thought the goal was against the run of play - we were the better side until they scored IMO.
