To call the cross **** is OTT and just shows how some fans already have their minds made up about certain players. The cross was slightly overhit.

It was either good or not good - Slightly overhit still means it wasn't good hence "****".

I agree with most on here that Kuyt impresses in his workrate, but offers little upfront or on the wing.

It also did get through the defender which was the difficult bit of the exercise IMO. Kuyt was one of our better players - certainly when we applied pressure which was not enough IMO he was always prominent.

It was slightly over hit which made it very difficult for Gerrard but not impossible. If you watch Gerrard, he slows his run slightly just as Kuyt hits the ball - if he had kept going full tilt he would have been in a better position to take the chance.

The cross wasn't perfect but it was far from ****.

I thought he did pretty well yesterday, and overall has been one of our better and most consistent players this season. Besides, at the moment, would people rather we were playing Pennant there? Or Babel, who has been utterly dire all season? I know I wouldn't.

There are no real alternatives atm. I agree with that. Perhaps giving Benayon an extended run in the team on that position? Or maybe even giving the position back to stevie and play keane of torres instead?

I don't know, and as I said I am split on this. I am however sure that he is not the best person for that position in the longer run, however for now he might be our best option.

Benayoun isn't a winger though at all, he cuts inside far too often and takes up the space Gerrard and Keane want to play in - the few times he's payed there this season it hasn't really worked at all imo.

As you say, I think he's our best option in that position for now. I'd love us to have another real contender out there, basically a Riera for the right side, ie. a proper winger, but without that player I think Kuyt has justified his place there this season and anyone getting on his back because he hasn't scored or assisted in 5 games is just being short sighted.

As you say, I think he's our best option in that position for now. I'd love us to have another real contender out there, basically a Riera for the right side, ie. a proper winger, but without that player I think Kuyt has justified his place there this season and anyone getting on his back because he hasn't scored or assisted in 5 games is just being short sighted.

If the roles had been reversed yesterday, and Gerrard had put the ball in only for Kuyt to miss it, how many would be blaming Gerrard for overhitting the pass, and how many would be blaming Kuyt for missing an open goal??

I love the guys work ethic, if only some others applied themselves like he does. But he lacks that touch of class that we need in the final third.

BUT he ****ed that ball up. Yes he had to have a bit of pace on it....but he bloody smashed the thing across goal. Im surprised Stevie actually got a foot to it to be perfectly honest

The cross was awful.

That ball should have been played a bit further back with less pace on, he megged the defender so he got that bit done, or he should have bent it around the defender like many wingers would have.

No chance blame gerrard, at full stretch, with a crazy powerful cross.
