Its fine for you to have your opinions but to call him a gimp is OTT and makes you look like a bit of a muppet.
Yes, but a winger's abilites are all about flair, acceleration, good passing and technique. And other clubs have Messi, Ronaldo, Walcott ... even Aaron Lennon is better in that position.
If Kuyt is praised for all the hard work, why doesn't Rafa play him as rightback or instead of Mascherano???

A wingers other abilities are about interlinking with the fullback, covering when he gets forward, helping out when the opposition press. His other roles include linking up with the striker, joining in attacks, getting into the box...Kuyt does everything that is required of him as part of the Rafa machine. If we had a player like him on the left (and Riera may yet be that player...he's got more flair, but less of an engine in him and nowhere near as much game intelligence) then we'd be sorted.Originally posted by reds123 View PostYes, but a winger's abilites are all about flair, acceleration, good passing and technique. You'd take Lennon over Kuyt?? Then more fool you.

i would have blamed gerrard for an overhit pass there myself had the roles been reversed. i really do think if the two players in question were torres and gerrard it would have resulted in a goal.Originally posted by Scratch View PostIf the roles had been reversed yesterday, and Gerrard had put the ball in only for Kuyt to miss it, how many would be blaming Gerrard for overhitting the pass, and how many would be blaming Kuyt for missing an open goal??

I love the guys work ethic, if only some others applied themselves like he does. But he lacks that touch of class that we need in the final third.
BUT he ****ed that ball up. Yes he had to have a bit of pace on it....but he bloody smashed the thing across goal. Im surprised Stevie actually got a foot to it to be perfectly honest
an olympic sprinter would have struggled to get to it

And yet Gerrard got his whole boot to it...not studs, not a fleeting contact...his whole boot...yes, at full stretch, but still his whole boot...it should have been in the back of the net.Originally posted by bobbyfallon View Post

at full stretch is my arguement here though he shouldnt have had to be with a decent pass.Originally posted by Scratch View PostI think if the players in question had been Kuyt and Torres, it would have been a goal
maybe if it was torres who squared it for kuyt to tap it in

I agree - but to be fair he did retract his original insult to Kuyt and apologise, until someone decided there was a need to continue it.Originally posted by wiwoh come on, who does he think he is?!
Anyway whatever, I'm about to go out for some christmas drinks so you will all have to sort it out between yourselves.
Bertie - please call down fella, it's simply not worth getting so pent up on an internet forum.

Hate to let facts get in the way of a good argument, but against Blackburn Kuyt got two assists.Originally posted by reds123 View PostIs he back to last year's form?
It's been 5 Premier Lg matches without a goal or an assist.
Apart from this, Rafa's wonder boy seems to lose too much the ball and all he does is simply:
a. pass the ball backwards.
b. pass the ball to the player next to him
c. shoots
d. gives the ball away when trying through pass.
Did somone notice him yesterday how many times he lost the ball???
And why the hell he is never substituted???
Kuyt plays for Liverpoll yes but I cannot see an attacking minded manager choosing him in his side.
And when Keane has a bad game we all criticize him and he is substituted after 60 mins.
Against Hull, Kuyt played the cross for Gerrard’s first goal that didn’t get credited as an assist because of a negligible deflection. He also won the header for Benni to lay it off to Gerrard for the second. Pivotal in both goals really.
So in the five games you talk about, we scored six goals and Kuyt was essential in 75% of them. What’s that say for the rest of the team???If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yes, one of them when he didn't hit the ball properly and the ball bounced back to Alonso.
Anyway, hope that tonight Kuyt will score after 9 or 10 games.
After all that is what he is supposed to do!!! And hope that we will know that Kuyt is playing (after the way he played in the Stoke game...)
