A thread for the glasses who are half full

Please, nothing negative in here at all. It is for optimistic and overly joyous posters who are just happy to be here and not to analyse the team or Rafa's decisions.

Yay top of the league, Torres to come back, Keane scored!

I agree the amount of moaners on here is riduculous, we are Top of the League having just drawn with Arsenal away , Torres , Skrtel and Aurelio to comeback , Rafa to sign a new deal and Keane scored

Bring on Bolton, let's get our home form back on track and push on

      Bravo !!

And w, just took points off Arsenal ... we have managed to arrive at this point whilst not playing our best football, missing both our top strikers via form or injury, ridiculous boardroom antics and rotatiing our players quite regularly. We have Agger back, Skirtel is on his way as is Torres and we are still 2 points clear at the top ...

Absolute worse case senario we are 1 point behind at Christmas.

United just lost Vidic most likely for 2 matches in the Champions lg for a nothing game
They have lost Evra for four games
They are behind us and even if they win there 2 games in hand ... they are still behind us
We made the best start to the Premiership ever
Whilst we have dropped points .. so has all the other contenders ..
Arsenal are all but out of the race
All is not as well with Chelsea as it has been in the past

Right in the thick of it .. and ready to push on

Arsenal who have beaten the other two of the big four. Let's keep with the intention of the OP.

It is really sickening to see all this abuse towards Rafa. He is the one who took Liverpool to the top, he has revamped the team from top to bottom. He has got in promising players like Nemeth, Insua, Lucas (he is promising) etc. key signings like Agger, Skrtel, Reina, Alonso, Torres, Kuyt, Riera and Mascher to form an incredible spine to the team. Rafa got us in a position to be demanding towards the team - let's not take it over the top.

He has had to work hard and fast to form that spine because when he took over the team was in complete freefall and miles behind the top three. He learns from his mistakes - rotates less now than he did - takes chances in the transfer market - sells on players who don't work out.
                * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I've said for years that if we are within 6 points at Christmas we'll go on and win it. We've had the best record from Jan-May every year that Rafa has been here, we've just left ourselves with too much to do. This time we are top, and at the very worst will be within a point of the leaders.

It's no good bitching about every single game individually, there will always be unexpected frustrations (Fulham, Hull etc.), and unexpected victories (Chelsea away for one). The table doesn't lie at Christmas. We are top because we deserve to be, and yet we all know we can still improve. Fernando and Skrtel will be back in a week or so, and with a reasonably fit squad there's no reason why we can't go all the way.

Against the other top sides, we've won two and drawn one. Are you seriously saying you wouldn't have taken a point before yesterday?

disagree we looked most like winning it when arsenal were still going for it themselves - i.e. before the red card. after that arsenal's game plan changed and they fought hard and limited our chances. they were pure counter attack at that stage and made it very hard for us.

yes we could have taken it, but they really fought for that point with their lives. remember that this is arsenal we're talking about and away from home and its far from a bad result even if we were against 10.

we have to be more clinical to. once we become that (im thinking the second half of the season) then there's no stopping us. utd are more than capable of getting 6 from their games in hand which means 1 point behind. maybe that'll put a rocket up our arses and push us on.

Fair enough. Personally I think you are expecting too much. It's certainly costly when you lose - Chelsea would be 4 points clear with a game in hand now if they'd beaten us at Stamford Bridge. Most people would consider a draw away from home a good result though against the other top sides. I was disappointed that we didn't go on and win when they went to ten men, but I'd have taken a point before the game, so there's no point getting wound up by it.

For me it's the home draws against the so-called lesser teams that are costly. We're OK so far, but we can't afford too many more of them. We're still top though, and have two of our best players returning to fitness. Lots of grounds for optimism for 2009!

What abuse? Where are people abusing him?

Criticism and abuse = not the same thing.
