People need to be careful what they wish for...
i wasn't being critical of dirk. i simply said that he's better on the right than as a striker, other people pretty much said the same on this thread.

i remember threads about kuyt last year, now they were critical but the lad's found his place on the right of the 3 where he contributes. but come on as a striker he's not even average.

Kuyt's season has been far better so far.

      I agree with this entirely.

Probably the first time I have ever agreed with rage.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

‘’ he really is pants up front.’’

‘’Average professional football strikers/attackers and players in general can control the ball, create a goal threat consistently and atleast genuinely look like can do their job which is creating or scoring goals.

Kuyt can't do any of that on a consistent basis.’’

‘’But as a striker (especially a lone striker) he's a ridiculous option.’’

‘’but he is a liability when we are in possesion’’

‘’kuyt is a very poor striker’’

        Slightly critical don’t you think?

Not gonna get into another Kuyt argument, but when he plays on the right, people say he was bought as a striker and only filling in on the right because he’s not good enough. When up front, he’s apparently better on the right. Rafa sees him as a vital cog that saves him at least one sub every game because of his versatility, some people see him as a liability regardless of where he plays.

You, like many others begrudgingly (my opinion of course) gave him credit earlier in the season when he was scoring goals for fun, but had to add that it was only because he was played up front, not on the right (ie you were right all along). Now he’s up front everyone’s calling for him to be played out wide again.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

The bottom line is he does a very good job for us on the right of a 4231. Very good. But he's not a very good centre-forward.

I don't see how anyone can argue with that.

            adequate job on the right

That’s today’s argument because of current form, but whenever he bags another brace up front that will go back to being his position, or whenever we lose he won’t have any position.

For what it’s worth I agree that out right when playing 4231 in his best position (although he misses Torres), but still think he’s a decent forward too.

Cheers Mister, but I can't help think it has more to do with the regular Kuyt theme reather than talking sense.

most of you're quotes refer to kuyt as a striker, i'd say the same if we played pepe there. but as a goalkeeper he's the best in the world. now kuyt may not be the best in the world on the right but at least he can do a job there, on occasion a very good job but as a striker all of them quotes whilst maybe cruel are not necessarily untrue are they?

The point was how these points were made were highly critical, you said they weren’t.

More annoyingly I’m sure a lot of the people who are slating him as a forward, were saying earlier in the season when he was playing well up top that he should stay there, that it’s his best position and he shouldn’t be on the right.

A particular quote from your good self...

'' we should just play him upfront and maybe we'll see 20 goals from him this season''

which is my very point, 'maybe'.

earlier on in the season he played well upfront but more recently he's back to his usual self when played as a striker. maybe we all look for the best in our players, yes even me, and kuyt for a few games punched above his weight as a striker and is now back to his usual level when played there.

do you think he has it in him to be a striker at liverpool? the quotes may have been critical but understandable also maybe?

Honestly, how stupid do you think people are? I know what you meant, so do you, and so does everyone else who read that thread at the time. Your tedious play on words or ignore the point routine actually doesn’t work you know. You’re as predictable as you are clueless...

It would be appreciated if you could let this drop. I suspect that continuing questioning is not going to get us anywhere and will degenerate into pointless squabbling.

Don't worry, I had planned on taking it no further regardless of the response, I had made my point.

and i have made mine. kuyt will score goals as a striker but that is not his best position for us, he is clearly better on the right.
