Alonso (Responded magnificently to Rafa’s rejection.)
Reina (One of the best keepers in the world)
Skrtel (‘was excellent before being injured against Man City)
    Another MASSIVE game

        1) Xabi Alonso. After two seasons of tepid displays an erratic passing range and spells on the bench, we finally have the Xabi of 2005/6 back. It's almost as if the summer transfer farce gave him the kick up the arse he needed. He is now brimming with confidence, dictating the tempo of games and even chipping in with the odd goal or assist. Everything good we do seems to go through Alonso these days, keep it up lad.

        2) Pepe Reina. Quite simply one of the top three or four goalkeepers in world football. Ruthlessly consistent in all departments, not least his distribution. A future LFC skipper for sure. He is crucial to our title charge.

        3) Steven Gerrard. By his exceptionally high standards, it probably has not been Stevie's greatest ever first half of the season, but he is our top scorer with eleven goals and as usual has consistently dragged us kicking and screaming to put points on the board in the league and guide us to the top of our Champions League group. It might seem ridiculously harsh, but to win the title, I think we'll need Stevie to slip into fifth gear over the second half of the season.
Yep - would agree with all three in any order. As I said in another thread about player of the season so far, Arbeloa has exceeded expectations, and is a major asset to the team. Riera has done more than most people probably thought he would. But our best players have been the three above, then Carra. The only reason they aren't raved about every week is that they are so good and so consistent that you grow to expect it from them.

          Hard to pick 3 ..

Kuyt has really impressed me this season as has Arbeloa and if he gets a run of games Insua could be one of our star performers
