Without Beye I can see the logic of Babel on the left (Taylor has looked baffled when playing there at times) even if it surprises me.
What bigger fish is there than the league?

Our next PL game isnt for another 13 days. This is a daft selection. I think it yells 'i refuse to accept that lucas isnt good enough so i will keep picking him'.

      That's stupidity IMO.

If someone's on fire, you play them.

frustrating but that should be strong enough to beat them.

Should be, but why take the risk?

This is a huge game, Chelsea have a tough away game at fulham and we have the chance to put them under huge pressure, if we win. Why not go with the best team we can field?

I think Lucas is good enough. I would question whether at the minute he should play with Mascher though.

Nothing wrong with using the squad and Newcastle are a poor side and we should have enough to beat them. Lucas played well up there last time and Babel and Gerrard scored.
              Babel will score today
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

I agree mate, and would've made changes for Preston away. I don't see the point in taking these risks.

Ah well...just gotta trust the gaffer. If we win we'll be extremely well set. C'mon Redmen.

I think all players are individuals and you do what you think is best for them (having said that I would have played Keane in this instance as he has been benched recently and has responded).

didnt someone say Keane looked like he was carrying a niggle when he came off?

Seems a weird selection although perfect game for masher to boss.

I know Rafa likes to spring the odd surprise here and there but dropping Keane after his two goals against Bolton has me stunned. WTF?

Could have but if you're fit to be in the squad then you're fit to start if you ask me.
If we win no-one will have any complaints though.

Just briefly turned on to Sky - Gray and Redknapp are ****ing loving this.

Keys just said "Is this is a team set up not to lose? Or to win?"

It'd make some more sense of the selection.

Not for the first time I don't understand the selection, I said after last game I thought he'd make a few changes, I'm suprised he's dropped Keane to play Kuyt up front on his own, especially as Keane has hit a bit of form the last couple of games with 3 goals.

Alonso and Riera out and Lucas and Babel in doesn't inspire me with confidence. Alonso has had a great season and with Lucas instead of him I think we'll struggle to create chances. Babel needs to step it up as he's been poor all season, so I'm also worried about the creativity we'll have

I may get some stick for this but I'd rest all the big players for FA Cup to keep everyone fit for League campaign
