There looks to be something in this. Police can hold him for upto 24 hours without charge initially, and then can appeal to have this extended to 48 hours and then 72 hours if necessary.

GBH is taken very seriously, far more so than common assault or even actual bodily harm.

I really hope he hasnt done anything stupid.

With the legal team at his disposal he should have well been out by now. This is very worrying. If it is GBH and he is found to have done it he can expect about 2 to 3 years in jail.
