Great player and whenever he goes he I hope he goes still playing at a high standard. He has been excellent this season.

If San Jose is prepared to play another year in the reserve team then I would give Hyypia a new deal.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Brilliant player and pro. But, like Xabi, took a kick up the butt by being left out of the CL squad to make him work harder at his passing and general overall play. Now he's arguably better than two years ago, say.

Absolutly one of our best players, and have been consistently the last 10 years. It is incredible how he still have so much to offer a team at the top of the PL, and actually challenging players 10 years younger for a spot in the first team. Judging by his current play, he could easily take another season!

He is almost turning in to a "new" maldini og barresi! (well besides not playing for us his entire career)

Great servant to us, and I really really hope he gets to hold the PL trophy before he retires.

Named my son Samuel in his honour.

Is San Jose actually going to make the grade?

A fitting tribute to a legend

He can't be far off a testimonial now.

Same here. Missus thinks it's religious to facilitate a place in the local Catholic school coupled with the regular churchgoing.

I'd love him to get another season with us and think he would still have something to offer next term. However being realistic there are a host of premier league teams he could go to and play virtually every week and that temptation may be enough to lure him away. Hope it doesn't work out like that but if it did he'd still go with my blessing

                    Sami. Legend.

i would love sami to win the league this year and then hang up his boots. bow out at the top. a legend of the club and a model pro. not once in his entire career was he in the papers for doing something wrong. hope he stays on in a coaching role when he does retire.

who will his testimonial be against???

really really annoying when commentators call him HERPIA - bugs the **** out of me

It doesn't seem so long ago that i had written Sami off as having even another game for us let alone a new contract, i just felt he was causing nervousness at the back because other players worried about his lack of pace, he at one point seemed to be getting caught out very often.

But now, he's in the zone again, as defiant and solidly reliable a figure as he ever was, not just in defence but from corners and free kicks too, scoring goals again even, a danger to the opposition to compliment that extra yard or two he's found in his head.

                              Superb.

i was one of his biggest critics myself i must admit but he seems to have upped his game in a big way this year.

i was actually hoping he would retire before this season.

                                glad i was wrong
