Glad to have the lad back, he will make the LB position his own.

I think so far that actually Insua has had the strongest case for fitting best into our system but in the last few games Aurelio has passed his way back into pole IMO. It will be hard for Dossena but I do thin that his style of play is well suited to what we need, probably more than Aurelio.
Well if Insua does well it will be a good boost to Gary Ablett and the rest of the reserves squad, as he'll finally have something to shout about.

Plus we could then sell Dossena back to Italy for £5m or so in the summer. So all in all I'm hoping that Insua comes through as the winner.

EMILIANO INSUA was sent off as his under-20 World Cup hopes ended in disappointment at the weekend.

The Liverpool left-back was Argentina’s captain in the South American qualifying tournament, but a 1-0 defeat by Colombia means the defending champions will not take part in the under-20 finals for the first time in 16 years.

Insua actually went closest to equalising after Richard Chara had given the Colombians a 65th minute lead.

And his misery was completed in the 83rd minute when he was dismissed.

Insua, who made his Reds debut in April 2007, had just made four successive starts in Rafa Benitez’s senior side and looked to have moved ahead of Andrea Dossena and Fabio Aurelio in the pecking order when he was called away on international duty.

Argentina’s Under-20 squad has won five of the last seven U-20 World Cups, but will not now defend their crown in Egypt.

Insua, however, will be available again for next weekend’s visit of Manchester City.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Because he's younger and will be around longer.

Personally I always hope for the youngest to be the best, not through any particular bias, just means we're building for the future.

Not to mention he'll have been with us 3 years by the time he hits 21 so if a quota system comes in he counts as a "homegrown" player

To be counted as a home grown player doesn't he have to translate Carra talk to the rest of the team

I agree with that it's what's best for the team that counts. At the moment (based on what I've seen this season) I think Aurelio and Insua are at a similar level.

I'd like to see Insua come through and make that place his own because he's younger and will get better with experience. I also like seeing a young player come through and break into the first team rather than us just going out buying someone ready made. Also it will show the kids in the reserve and the academy that it can be done (as it's been a while since anyone came from the reserves to become a first team regular.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
