wouldnt it be hilarious if he said that - calmly and with a cheeky grin on his face - but laughing all the way quoting keegan. it'd be hilarious.

There is no stopping Rafa in full flow. Now Gill is getting some stick

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has continued his attack on Manchester United by questioning chief executive David Gill's position on the Football Association board.

Benitez delivered a calculated criticism of his United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson prior to the weekend's fixtures.

Benitez claimed Ferguson was allowed to go unpunished when criticising referees, prompting the United boss to suggest the Spaniard was "disturbed for some reason".

But now Benitez has stepped up his row with the Premier League champions by querying the influence Gill has at the FA.

"They were saying we are not a threat," said Benitez in the Daily Mirror. "Now they know we are, they are starting mind games.

"But I don't think it's a mind game when you have control over everything, it's a mind game when you have the same level as the other people, then you can show you are cleverer than the others.

"But when you have control of everything and your chief executive is powerful in the FA and things like this, then that is not mind games.

"Is there a conflict of interest with David Gill at the FA?

"That is another fact. It is a fact that one person has a lot of power and control, and is on a lot of committees in the FA.

"To me that is very strange."

I imagine the FA wont take too kindly to the implied partiality, however close to the truth it is.

Ferguson implied something similar with his whinging over the fixtures and his claim that he'd send someone down next time to keep an eye on it.

If they punish rafa, they have to punish ferguson too.

So Gill hasn't been keeping a close enough watch then But Rafa is causing the FA all sorts of troubles I think, as you say they can't punish him now since they let Ferguson off the hook for something similar really. Now the FA will probably look even more inept.

Didn't know about Gill though, what does he do for the FA? Do we have anyone on board?
                  * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I beleive these new comments is what he really wanted to say from the start and is what every other Premiership manager is thinking but he needed a basis to start from. David Gill in the FA is the true foundation of everyone's grievances and this has made his (Gill's) position awkward and, dare I say it, unattenable in the long term.

I've been a bit confused these past couple of days but now I can see what the overall aim is.

Well you have to assume that his overall aim has always been the same - getting parity in treatment for Liverpool compared to Fergie. I think in the past Rafa has felt that Wenger and Morinho have been allowed to get away with a lot. The fact that he can now concentrate on just one man and hope to gain support from the rest of the league must have played a part in his decision to attack now rather than say at the start of the season.

dont "settle" for being involved and tell me that the ****ty draws are ok - they arent not by a long way
Why does it have to be a wind up, How is 7 out of 9 points a bad return.

Obscene Whinger is still here remember, but looking a bit clownish this season.

Should of made that clear - it's not that he has left but his importance in terms of our success is now reduced which means that it is possible for Rafa to (temporarily) ignore his influence while seeking to increase his own.

I'm pissed off because it's now a realistic possibilty. If we'd won those games we should win easily, there'd be no remote possibility of United going top.

We're just different types of people.
So IF we win the league will you still be unhappy as we did not beat stoke? Wise up

Here's a thought, seeing as Rafa has piped up about David Gill having too much of an influance and a massive conflict of interests maybe Rafa feels the best chance of winning the league is to get into Utd and try to upset them behind the scenes - maybe he realises that their squad is better than ours (which it is) that they have more 'flair' players capable of breaking teams down (which they have) and figures our best chance is if he gets Fergie all rilled up.

What's he got to lose?? it's not as if we can get to the last 4 games or so still in contention before pundits and press realise and go ' oh, there's Liverpool, how did they get within 1 point of Man U'
