I was just looking over a list of our squad from the beginning of the 2006/07 season and it's amazing how much better our squad has become in the past two years. When you look at the difference in the talent level of the squad you can see what Rafa has been working towards for the past few years.

By anyone's standards that's a very impressive step forward in quality with 13first teamers leaving the club in that time to be replaced by 13 new and in most cases improved players.

It certainly gives a good perspective on how far we have come.

I'd say so yeah, with the exception of Riise though! Arbeloa is more mobile than Finnan ever was with us although Finnan in his pomp was better then Aurelio, but he wasn't in his pomp for long (love that word, pomp).

Benni is no worse than Garcie, scores fewer but retains the ball much better, El Zhar is at least equal to Pennant and N'Gog offers more than Fowler did in his second spell.

Surely Benayoun has scored more goals than Garcia in the same timespan? And Benayoun doesn't lose the ball in league games like Garcia used to. So yes, a slight improvement.

It's a theory that will be happily proved wrong at the end of this season, but I was actually thinking the other day he won the CL with someone elses team and as basically won sod all with his own.

Understandable as he's got to get them working together, but until his squad proves itself with silverware too early to get excited abou the changes he's made.
