I challenge you to name anyone to do what Rafa has done with the "limited budget" at his disposal. By Limited budget, I am comparing our spending with the top ten clubs in Europe and not the likes of Villa or the Blue ****e. The only criticism I have of Rafa is his over cautious approach.

He is, but we are slowly blowing it. I have lost count of the needless points dropped at home now. Chelsea are on the slide and Arsenal are not as good as you'd expect, so we should at least finish second. ManUre have a dreadful midfield and have won so many games 1-0 this season it adds to my fury. We have to win at Old Trafford simple as that.Substance > Style

Right, sorry, i did imply it was didn't i. I was meant to be alluding to the type of support Rafa could expect should such a day come, judging on what i've seen from some posters recently.
I can't imagine doing anything but support till the season is done, could be it's a hard lesson to learn for him... winning this title, maybe needing to do things that go against his natural instincts, but i believe he'll get us there given more time, so i wont be buying into the notion Rafa will never ever win us it just yet .
Lets be thankful for small mercies, while we sort ourselves out club wise, if Citeh get it right they'll slow the Scum down a little till we get there, in title winning terms of course as have the Chavs, our record would be gone already but for them. (now there's a thought). This last bit was meant tongue in cheek, but now i think about it.Last edited by Vermilion; 20-01-09, 07:03 PM.

I think it's the 10 dropped home points with nearly half the season still left, actually.Originally posted by tomasjj View PostEh...so a draw against the bitters, with a goal conceded the last 2 minutes as players failed to execute the marking on a set piece now brings out calls for the managers head?
Talk about hyperbole!

i voted yes - maybe its because im scared that if rafa goes we undergo another few years of transforming a squad and a new manager shaping his own team.
for rafa to win the league he needs to be more positive and attack ****e teams. who cares if they score, score more and we pick up three points.
although im not sure his substitutions were to far off the mark the other night just the personel were not up to scratch that came on.
hard to know really there is a bit to go yet so fingers crossed. we are now chasing thats for sure and the destiny is out of our hands........ for now"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.
"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

People get too carried away some times, especially with emotive games like Everton at home. FWIW I thought we were unlucky not to be a couple of goals to the good given the chances we had going into the last 5 minutes. Some of Rafa's subs on the night were a bit puzzling however he has pulled some blinders out in the past so there's no reason to suggest he can't do it again. We might not win it this season but I think as long as we're close, we'll bag it next term
It's easy to distract fat people. It's a piece of cake.

And you know this for a fact how?Originally posted by liverpooltj View PostI am seriously starting to lose faith in his ability to get us to the promised land. He is too defensive against the lesser teams and persists with **** like Lucus and kuyt while leaving Babel n the bench. I had total faith in rafa but he is the person who is going to deny us no 19 and give the mancs our record which is unforgivable.

What a load of bollocksOriginally posted by el matador View Posti cant speak for anybody else but for me the thing that pisses me off the most about rafa are the decisions that he makes in terms of team selection and tactics.
Yesterday is a case in point. We go one nil up and you think come on rafa, take off kuyt and bring on masher to hold the midfield with xabi and stick stevie behind fernando. It gives us a much more solid look defensively and offensively it would give everton something to think about.
But he brings on lucas - who in their right mind (apart from dww) would bring on lucas to see out a tight game before mascherano ? His first contribution was a free kick to everton.
Everton played really well yesterday and looked dangerous all night and you'e got to give credit where its due. They harrassed us and kicked us all over the pitch and i didnt think we werent good enough to take all 3 points and so it turned out.
Play your best players in their best positions. Even ballague said that rafa believes that what he is doing is 100% right and he wont even think about changing his ideas. Its arguable that gerrard has single handedly kept benitez in this job for so long and that if it wasnt for super stevie rafa would have been booted out long ago.

Seriously redspin, that's a really poor reply.Originally posted by Redspin View PostAnd you know this for a fact how?
It can easily be turned around on you.
How do you know 'for a fact' that Rafa is the right man for the job?
How do you know 'for a fact' that he ISNT too cautious?
How do you know 'for a fact' that he's a great manager?
See? It's silly.
Why is it a load of bollocks?Originally posted by Redspin View PostWhat a load of bollocks
El matador gave some opinions and backed them up with reasons why he thinks as he does. If it's a load of bollocks, could you actually explain why, as opposed to just insulting someone's view without any points to the contrary?

What a ****e thread.
In fact, given the crap that's been in ALL threads the last few days, weeks months, what a bunch of tossers.
Sack Rafa, sure, go ahead, see what happens. What a load of nonsense posted (i think) mainly by teenagers who've spent FAR too much time wanking over Football Manager games.
I think I'm going to do as one other poster said, and give it a rest here. I thought you were all REDS!!!!!! Well ****ing well ACT like it!
Rafa Benitez gave us pride again. He gave us hopes and dreams. He made us feared across the Continent and took us closer to the Premier League Title than anyone since King Kenny. He became one of us and fought on our behalf. Rafa "got" LFC. For me he will forever be a legend. I'd have him back in a heartbeat. YNWA Rafa.
