Is my senile old brain right in thinking he gave up being chief exec of the premier league so that he could join LFC? I'm sure I recall him saying he would be taking on the best job in the world.

As you say he's probably best with some numbers to crunch rather than excelling in the all round capacities needed to do the job succesfully at club level.
