    Set Pieces

    No, not our defensive ones...

Instead of blaming players or managers directly, I wanna ask what people think of corners and free kicks.

Benitez should sack whoever devises our offensive set pieces, because they are the worst I think I have ever seen supporting Liverpool. We have averaged about 1 goal from a corner each season he has been here, and our free kicks are terrible too. Say what you want about our zonal marking, if we made better use of our set piece plays, we would well clear at the top.

When we get corners i dont feel in the slightest we will score, we need a re-vamp.

It is amazing how many decent free kick opportunities and corners we just complete fluff up. So many times the delivery is cleared by the first defender. Definitely and area we need to improve.

Am not sure if this is the place to talk about this - but Skrtel vs. Agger. Agger seems more solid from set pieces (and can score from them too), and Skrtel was at fault for both recent Everton goals that I can see. To learned Reds (and the rest of us), were those isolated lapses in concentration ?

I don't think Stevie should be taking our corners.

Hanging on the edge of the box picking up the pieces, is were he should be.

He also is one of our best headers, strange with have Gerrard, Alonso, Aurelio in the team and we cant put a ball in.

Sammy lee worked with a team that was great at setpieces,Bolton, did he not pick up anything? We are the worst team in the league at setpieces! Stop gerrard from taking them,he never beats the first man!

Yeah exactly, it's not a new argument by any means but nothing on the pitch ever changes.

We must have averaged over 10 corners a game in all these home matches where we've drawn this season - you have to think that given the same opportunities a team like Utd would make the opposition pay.

When Gerrard takes the corners and Hyypia doesn't play we have very little presence in the box.

completely agree with this. we just dont know how to score goals at set pieces or conversely defend them properly.

Corners, free kicks are totally wasted even when gerrard is putting the crosses in.

Our set piece delievery consistes of booting the ball full pelt in to the middle of the opposition box, comapre that to other teams where they try and pick out their own players.

I just think we haven't got any players who can deleiver a good dead ball.

Part exchange Kuyt for Bekham (neither can dribble past a player) but at least Beckham can deliever a ball and can even cross the ruddy ball unlike Kuyt and he can add some goals to the equation - (**** look how desperate i've become )
                      We come not to play.

I have honestly thought that for a long time we should have some sort of attacking set piece coach, that a bit like American football, will have a lot of different plays and we do things sometimes that are completely different to the conventional.

Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Everton are so much more threatening at set pieces than we are.

When we were playing well our set pieces looked better. I also think without Hyypia in the team we lack anyone who naturally attacks the ball which makes it easier to pick someone out. It's not really a height thing as Garcia always looked dangerous at corners for us and he was/is a midget.

There isn't much variety or subtlety to our routine when Gerrard takes all of the corners - I think when we do get any joy it's usually an outswinger when players can make a late run and connect.

I'm in favour of a left footer taking corners from the left and vice versa. Riera's delivery I think would be good although he's one player who has actually scored from a corner recently.

been **** since Rafa arrived. I dont think the players actually practice attacking plays.

If they do, then whoever is coaching them is ****, as they dont look like they have any idea whats going on out there sometimes.
