Light at the end of the tunnel?

    I haven't the time to check if this is correct but found this on Newsnow link (hope that's OK to mention Mods?) but something positive to cling to;

» After last season’s January slump, Liverpool went on to finish the season in emphatic style. They won eleven, drew three and lost one of their final fifteen, meaning that they were comfortably the best team in the league from February onwards. Over that period they averaged 2.40 points a game to Manchester United’s 2.14.

» The post-January flourish was also the difference maker for Rafael Benitez’s first ever league title while in charge of Valencia seven seasons ago. By the end of January that season they were fourth in La Liga, four points off top, having been handicapped by drawing nine of their first 22 (compared to Liverpool’s nine in 23).

» However from February onwards Valencia took eight points more than any other team in the league, winning twelve, drawing three and losing one of their final sixteen.

I know we weren't in a title race last season but still we can dream

Remember Bob, this is the football forum, not the midget fetish forum.

As for the original post, we still retain our hope but we're now in a position where we need United to slip up while we go on a strong winning run. Even if we managed to win 11 of our last 15 I'm not sure it'd be enough.

I figure that if we are going to win the league this season we cannot loose anymore than four more points.

        Thats the challenge.

That won't happen I'm afraid as long as Kuyt & Lucas are at the club!
Thanks for the memories Rafa - YNWA!

              2.4 - 2.14 = 0.26

              0.26 x 14 = 3.64

So by my ****ty maths that will no doubt be full of holes, a repeat of that form will get us 3.64 points up on the Scum. If they win their game in hand they will be 5 points clear so we're screwed

you can do all the maths you like but in reality, i think we can only afford one more loss or perhaps 2 draws and the rest of the games being wins to have any hope of winning the title........also, we will need to beat the mancs away to have any chance......even a draw there won't be enough i reckon......

i also feel that we need to beat chelsea on sunday to have any hope. Even if we were to get a draw, we would be 7 points behind the mancs (taking into account their game-in-hand) and that would leave us under immense pressure with absolutely no margin for error....

however, the optimist in me reckons that everton could do us a favour and get a draw at Old Trafford on Saturday evening, we will then beat the Chavs on Sunday and be level on points with them.....

also, i think it is worth bearing in mind that apart from the visit to old trafford, we have Chelsea, Villa, Arsenal, Man City - ALL AT HOME...... a good win against chelsea on sunday and our confidence will be boosted no-end....and hopefully we can start making teams suffer at anfield.....

our away games left are Portsmouth, Boro, Mancs, Fulham, Hull, West Ham and WBA - to be perfectly honest, (and i know that we just drew to wigan) but i reckon we can potentially force 18 points out of those 7 games.....

we've made ourselves underdogs after our last 10 results in the league (7 draws??) but if we can get our **** together, then we can still have a hell of a go at the title..........

also, and i have posted this point before, the team need the 12th man more than ever now.......to be perfectly honest, i know sometimes it is frustrating drawing after 70mins against the likes of fulham....but if some of the league draws at home this season had the atmosphere of chelsea in the champs league in 2005, or olympiakos.........then i dare say that we would have another 6 points or so...... It is time for liverpool fans to stand up and be counted....to prove to the likes of Jamie Redknapp (who is a ****in asshole) that the people of Liverpool FC don' ****in give up until it's not possible......

as the famous flag that could be seen time and again in games on our run to Istanbul says..............MAKE US DREAM!!!

100% agree, we need these players out, or at least not starting very often if we are to win the league

Thanks for that positive breath of fresh air post amongst all the doom & gloom merchants on here at the moment.

A good win over Chelsea and we're back on track

I'm still positive we can do it.

Last January everyone thought we'd get well beaten by Inter, and fade away in the league, but we eventually hit form, and i'm still hopefull we do the same this time round.

We're closer to #19 than we've ever been in the Premiership, and all we fans do is moan, how bad things are! I know it's frustrating losing silly points, and seeing the likes of United and Chelsea score the winner in the 89' minute, but **** it, win or lose lets give it a real go, and remain positive, because Rafa has brought us to the situation where we can really challenge for the title in January or February, not only dream about it in August and September!

If there's ever been a time to show we're the best set of fans in the world it's now, let's back the team in good or bad, let's hold our heads high shall we lads?!
