Thanks I thought it was later than that, because isn't the transfer deadline only on Monday? Which would mean a club could sign players before the deadline but be too late to play in Champions League
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I can see why Degen is in but I don't agree with it.

Presuming Darby is in the squad (who I'd have as much faith in as Degen) then we should be well covered in that position considering we're talking about a maximum of 6 games until the final.

I can't think of a player I'm happier to see come on when we're trying to hang onto a narrow lead - Chelsea away is a perfect example. The guy's head is a magnet.

What is it with this continued Rafa bashing, Agger, Carra & Skrtel are the chosen centrebacks for the knockout phase, who would you leave out to accomodate Sami.

Sami as been one of the best players in the team for years, he's just plain brilliant but time and tide wait for no one and he's winding down now, I agree he's having a great time at the moment but you can't hide the fact that at 35 he's a veteran at top level and if he gets an injury he could become a liability.

As a top man I'm sure he understands the Rafa ethos and I'm sure he just wants to stay and do his best for the club that he's part of.

I hope he gets the chance to stay on in some capacity after his playing days are over, he's just great.

          he's back in...

Meanwhile, Benitez has had a change of heart and decided to include Sami Hyypia in Liverpool’s 25-man squad for the Champions League knockout stages. Philipp Degen, however, has dropped out.

well done rafa - sami deserves to be in the squad.

Brilliant, now at least we have one player in the CL squad that is capable of scoring a header from a corner!

Degen would have only got injured anyway.

Haha. Mental. I'm delighted because Sami deserves to be in there but I can't help feeling we're over-stocked with CBs and light on right-backs.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Rumour? Rafa left him out in the first place, it's only now that he's changed his mind.

Yeah rumour...the list hadn't even been finalised after the transfer activity, and people were taking it as gospel.

And when he did, i didn't have a problem with it as we had Carra, Agger and Skrtel as our CB's, and Degan (who was uninjured at the time) and Arbeloa as RB...Sami was the unlucky one to lose out to the foreigner rule.

However, with the squad resubmitted after the transfer window, it made sense to swap Degan for Sami. And Rafa did. yet because of some paper talk, people viewed it as an excuse to get some digs in at Rafa.

It's not changing his mind, it's a change made due to Degan's injury. But if Degan had been fit and playing, then i doubt the change would have been made, and i'd have backed the choice, cos we still have Carra, Agger and Skrtel at CB...more than enough to cover.

                              Is Insua in the squad?
