As Reade quoted, Shanks would be horrified.

I believe Rafa is fighting Our fight with us. Yes, he's having to resort to unprecedented measures, distasteful even at times, but what he's doing is fighting for Our club from the inside. He's trying to wrestle power from the people who are destroying Us in any way he needs to and I fully back him, as hard as it is at times.

There's a bigger picture. Far bigger than the scum, the title, the record, Xabi, Keane, Reade, even Shanks himself. Extreme circumstances call for extreme measures. The fact Rafa is ruisking his own reputation for Us speaks for itself. All you doubters, naysayers and the ridiculous non-fans spouting their bile on forums such as these need to take a step back and look at who's with Us and who's against Us.

If I read Mourinho's or (insert name of **** here) name mentioned on this site one more time as a possible manager for Us I think I may just gouge my eyes out to save the pain.
Are you actually suggesting that Rafa is deliberately handing the title on a silver platter to the scum in order to get rid of Hicks and Gillette? If that were true then he is playing politics with our emotions and club and flushing our history down the toilet and has no right being a manager of any football club let alone this one. I am not a "naysayer" or "doom-monger" but I have become utterly exasperated with that man's crazy decisions and tactics and infuriated by the constant accusations of kneejerkism (accusations that in themselves have become somewhat kneejerk) levelled at anyone who exercises their right to express their anger on the matter. Believe me I think we "naysayers" care about this club than the spin doctors who defend Rafa.

Is that part of the article or your summary? Either way, it would make a great banner for the Football Forum at the moment.
Remember, we're only adding to the nonsense.

Walking a lonely road one night, Nasruddin saw riders approaching. His imagination ran riot: he saw himself robbed or killed, so he climbed a wall into a graveyard and hid. Puzzled at his behaviour, the riders, who were followers of the Mullah, followed. Finding him cowering behind a grave, they asked "Great Sage, why are you hiding here?". "It's more complicated than you think" he replied, "I'm here because of you - and you're here because of me"

        Oh the hilarity.

You completely take your own meaning from what I say, then call others spin doctors.

What i'm saying is very simple, so i'll type it slowly just in case.

There are bigger issues at hand this season than the title and the scum.

Our club as we know it is disintegrating around us. The very foundations are crumbling. While lots of you moan and bitch about Lucas coming on, or Gerrard going off, others (and I believe Rafa is one of these people) are concentrating on the bigger issues. I also believe that Rafa sees failure to win the title this season as an acceptable by-product of winning the war with the people ruining Us. He is one of the lucky few in a position to proactively fight H & G.

Is that straight-forward enough for you?
        That's the one...

Now let's compare the Bascombe Article with this.

Bascombe is out to damage as much as he can with his crap. This article looks at the whole picture and identifies the real issues.
          -----------------------------------------------

'Football is a simple game based on the giving and taking of passes, of controlling the ball and of making yourself available to receive a pass. It is terribly simple.'

          Bill Shankly.

              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
