I must say, I was shocked that the ever ndustrious Kuyt made only three tackle attempts, winning only one............ I was less suprised to see that he attempted no crosses!
Of course, this doesn't tell the whole story, but it tells a tale of where we are lacking.
Thats bollocks, he attempted at least 5 crosses, and they all failed.

According to that guardian thing, he passed twice from out wide into the box (assuming these were his attempted crosses, seeing as you can't select crosses on the tabs, just passes??) and both times they didn't reach their target.
And he also got 5 interception, same as Skrtel...no one else came close...it's his harrying that makes him a vital part of the team.
Whilest this is a fun tool to play with ( yawn ) too much is being made of pass success rates. There is no comparison to say a full back who goes the easy option of passing to a DM to Gerrard who is trying to play the money ball to Torres.
The higher up the field the more the pressure on the player with the ball.

Just a thought
And you are spot on really. I remember a recent England game, where afterwards Sky Sports showed the pass completion percentages for Gerrard and Lampard. Lampard's was higher. Well having watched the game it pissed me off that they were highlighting this as Lampard had been playing 5-10 metre passes the whole game, whilst our Stevie had been playing his normal wide range of passes, including "killer" balls, 8/10 of whic are probably going to be cut out. So does this mean Lampard was the better player in that game? Does it ****.

Imagine the pressure we'd be under if Aurelio's success rate was down to say 60%

Yep I remember fuming when Kuyt massively overhit a cross in the second half, it almost went out for a throw in. Those stats are never 100% accurate.
It is a very nice little tool, just dont take it as gospel.

There was a graphic on the BBC demonstrating your argument. It showed Lampard was passing more square to release his full back into space whereas Gerrard would look to a more direct approach - of course Gerrard's rate would be lower but when he does make that one pass, its worth it whilst Lampard doesn't take the risk of passing forward.
