To avoid a repeat, the reason Lucas starts is likely because:

        Liverpool FCTV provide the reason:

If LFC win they will likely play Villa. Alonso will be suspended for this game.

If Mascherano, Gerrard or Carragher get booked they will all miss the Villa game. Obviously Gerrard and Carra must play.

If Masch was to play too, and him and Gerrard both got booked, we would be without Masch, Alonso and Gerrard for the Villa game.

Who to play in midfield then??? Sensible stuff from the reds boss.
        Forwards.......

Lets hope Lucas plays like he did at Newcastle.
Switch off when not in use.
