Okay well first off Riera is reasonable, but probably nothing more.
Benitez's attacking signings over the years have generally been poor so he is a step up on them, which has increased his reputation beyond its entitlement somewhat.
However, I suspect all these tricky wingers that are mentioned would fare equally poorly in a Benitez side. His preferred tactics of keeping things compact, keeping our shape, being cautious are not suited to players like that. Giving indivudual players creative freedom does not fit into a tactical gameplan, which is how I think benitez approaches matches.

On the Ning Nang Nong
Where the Cows go Bong!
And the Monkeys all say Boo!
There's a Nong Nang Ning
Where the trees go Ping!
And the tea pots Jibber Jabber Joo.
On the Nong Ning Nang
All the mice go Clang!
And you just can't catch 'em when they do!
So it's Ning Nang Nong!
Cows go Bong!
Nong Nang Ning!
Trees go Ping!
Nong Ning Nang!
The mice go clang!
What a noisy place to belong,
Is the Ning Nang Ning Nang Nong!!

I agree, Richey. It probably explains Babel's demise. He's actually become a worse player than he was last season. He seems much more nervous to do what he finds naturally. As though Rafa has drummed his philosophy into his head and now, as a result, he's always in two minds as to what to do in threatening situations.Originally posted by Richey View PostOkay well first off Riera is reasonable, but probably nothing more.
