This guy is **** hot. Should get his chance for the national team, look at the ****e theyve had at LB in recent years with Gilberto and Marcelo (only young granted) getting chances. In a selfish way I hope he doesnt though, bound to get crocked. With Insua not registered its gonna have to be cotton wool time for Fab, we'd of been in the final last year if he didnt get injured and its arguably the position we cant replace at the minute with no Insua eligible.

I honestly cant remember a winger thats regularly got the better of him let alone ripped him apart, he's immense defensively.

Had Robben in his pocket the whole game nearly. Close to the perfect game for him tonight.

Aurelio was the best player on the pitch against Real. Brilliant display.

I remember all the stick he got when he first arrived and people saying he couldn't defend. I think he's a very cultured footballer, fantastic technique and a peach of a left foot ... and he can defend as well. He doesn't have much pace but he compensates that with positional awareness and intelligent passing. Our best player last night. Hats off to him.

I'm worried, he's showing what a cracking player he is.

It's usually about now his body lets him down.

Yep he's due an injury any time soon.

What a great display. One of my 'Red' mates is forever bleating to me that "Aurelio is ****ing ****".

Not heard from him since last night.

One of the best full-backs in the Premiership...a real unsung hero.

A great performance last night, kept probably the inform player in Europe at the moment extremely quiet for the duration of the game (albeit, helped by a great performance from Mascherano.)

For the second consecutive game, his set-piece was the difference between the two teams. I think this highlights the importance of having a set-piece specialist. When match fit certainly he merits a starting position; unfortunately, we have never had a match fit Aurelio for long. As many are aware as soon as he hits top match fitness he invariably gets injured. Thus many base their opinions on a player trying to get back to top fitness.

Fingers crossed he can't keep fit for the remainder of the season; he certainly will be asset in a position we have struggled in.

His best game in a Liverpool shirt by far, even before his free kick. If he could produce more often I would be very happy.

He seems to have shown what a fully fit Aurelio is capable of - very assured display must have had Dossena (and Insua) really worried about getting back in the side.
